You're delusional if you think Rafas career is over if he left here.

Fact of the matter is there will always be a club who will take a punt on him. He would walk in to every championship side. There are mid-table foreign clubs who would be interested such as Fiorentina who wanted him in the summer. Relegation threatened clubs would ask him. Newcastle. Etc etc.
Your Rafael can manage wherever he likes, as long as it's not here.:D

I largely think there's not much point in firing him unless the board goes

But, as bad as relegation would be, the mere thought of him relegating us is too much

...but but but...you said it'd be after the derby...
You said he’d be here for 3 years

This is a team who finished 10th, and were in contention for a european place for most of last season.
yes fair point, I don't see how we are ever going to make up the three points that currently separates us from tenth, with only six months of the season to go and our players all now beginning to return from injury. What on earth is to become of us

If they bin Benítez, can you trust this mob to appoint anyone better?

His scalp would be a convenient scapegoat, allowing the abysmal EFC hierarchy to remain in situ.

It's a good question. No established manager is coming here, not to this mess and a young unproven manager is too much of a risk given the squad.

A young unproven manager is our only way out of this

We cannot attract an established top manager, so we need to find the next top manager before they are established.

It's exactly the same with players. We need to find them first. The obsession with experience has us in a never ending vicious circle of veering from one crisis to another.

If he doesn’t go in the next few games then he probably is here for three years. He’ll only be fired if we look likely to be relegated. One good result and the heat goes out of it and the board take the easiest road which is to keep him in place. The board will always do whatever is easiest.

It’s either now or Dave is probably right.

Actually sacking a manager in order to avoid us getting relegated is something they have got consistently right , so yes if that’s the objective I think they could manage it.

Again Carlo was here for 21 matches the season before in which he took us from 15th to 12th. I think people seem to forget this.

You're also talking about the finish of a full season after spending over 90 mil.

Rafael hasn't had anywhere near as long and a fraction of the transfer budget. Give him a chance.

We are there now.
