What a day!

I just hope Benitez manages to professionalize the club, at all levels. It may be too much to ask. We have to wait to see and hope for better days, which is the life of an Everton supporter.

It's actually pretty shocking that we're having this conversation. Moyes, as a manager, took on responsibility at all levels on the football side and did an admiral job.

We moved to the DOF model and we really should have consolidated and embellished what was already there. Yet her we are hoping someone appointed ostensibly as team coach to work with a DOF takes on that more general manager role and sorts us out. Benitez of all people (we all know the history here).

What this weekend has really exposed is the desperate lengths some of the posters will go to on here to justify the position they took in the summer when they all thought it would be a laugh to get dead edgy online with obsessive arse licking posts supporting Benitez.

It isn't too late to repent and admit you were wrong folks. We will welcome you back into the Everton fold.

Just admit you were wrong and Benitez was a terrible idea and you never really believed anything you wrote.
If you think benitez is the problem then you can't have been watching this club for the past 7 years.

Same crap every season with crap attitudes and every manager we have had haven't managed to get a tune out of them.

Coleman has played for 8 managers here.

Every year this fan base does this. Talk about how bad the players are attitude wise or ability wise, criticise the board and then when the fruits of all that kick in on the pitch , blame the manager.

Holgate has played in midfield before; it's not a complicated role for 20 minutes. Win headers, block passing lanes, stop letting them run through us.

Maybe every UEFA Pro License people get their common sense levels just disappear.
Of course it's that easy , just stick someone somewhere because they played there as a teenager once.

This is a ridiculous idea, players have positions for a reason. The same idea of putting holgate in midfield or Godfrey at right back or whatever else will be the first thing you attack the manager for if he did it and it didn't work.

We saw first hand bringing a striker on 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go does to this team under Martinez. So lashing anyone anywhere and expecting them to play as well as someone else who's position that is sounds like you are playing FIFA.

Are Richarlison and DCL defenders?

No but let’s be honest, Mina has been in and out this year even more than he usually is and he is our best instinctive defender.

Keane has always been dodgy and Godfrey has suffered because an extreme case of COVID.

Benitez apparently made it clear he wants a top CB in asap so it’s something he knows about too. Our problems at defence in the present are caused by our failings before Rafael came in.

With 15 mins to go yesterday it looked like a game plan well executed to get a win when we aren’t on form and down on a few key players. Benitez cannot be blamed for a 15 min capitulation by our entire team.

The same defenders did well under Ancelotti.

Sure there was plenty wrong with his team in the 2nd half of the season but very interesting that they become terrible when Benitez gets his mits on them.

Did you watch them under ancelotti? Ffs we parked the midfield in from of them so many times to protect them. Whenever we tried to attack and left them to defend they looked exactly like yest.
For christ sake can we just stop this nonsense about they were good under ancelotti.
They cant be trusted to defend on their own. Its been proven so many times. Keanes the worst. No midfield camped in front of him and he's so exposed its untrue.

Well Richy missed as many games at this stage last season as he has this season.

DCL obviously massive who's missed 6 of 9.

Doucoure has only missed 1 of 9 this year whereas Allan missed 1 of 9 last season.

So DCL, the Championship level striker, is the only real difference between last season and this season after 9 games.

Any excuse thrown at Benitez this season I sure hope was thrown at Ancelotti last season.
Saying DCL is a championship level striker, that’s all you needed to say to let me know that trying to debate it with you is pointless.

Not sure why the tactical genius of the fanbase think putting a defender in midfield or a player who hasn't played for 2 years is the answer here.

Or even putting some kid in there that has never played at this level is suddenly going to turn into the next big thing.

Fans always know better, whilst saying the better is worse than the starting 11.
It’s basic common sense, you’re getting overrun, get some protection in there, you don’t need to be a Prem level manager to know that

I'm certainly not calling for Benitez to be sacked just yet, but any more performances like yesterday and it won't be long til he's gone.

I know we have a terrible squad of absolute cowards that he is working with, and he's had a pitiful transfer budget following Marcel and his shockingly inept performances, but anyone excusing Benitez from having anything to do with that debacle yesterday needs to see a doctor soon - he got so much wrong from minute one it's really concerning.
It's not just that he had a terrible day as coach yesterday ( despite the denials of his apostles on here) it is the fact that he is immersed in the kopite trait of never accepting responsibility when something goes wrong.

The king of deflection would rather throw a young player under the bus than accept his own shortcomings.

If an Evertonian cocks up.they admit it and own it. Kopites never do.

Did you even bother to read my post before answering it?

Holgate hasn't played well in his preferred position this season. What makes you think putting him in midfield is going to solve an issue? Or throwing gbamin on after 2 years out.

For the notion of not being overrun you don't throw in people who can very easily be overrun as an answer. This is common sense!

Bringing on defenders and having a 5/6 man defence makes sense, not lashing players all over the pitch and expecting it to work.

He played there for us last season so maybe you just need to pay more attention to Everton games?

Yes. And the they did well under ancelotti is growing tiresome.
We cant be a team that parks the bus home and away to protect the kamikaze defenders we have. Thats the whole point.
They need replacing. Our two centre halfs yest were both relegated from this league with burnley and norwich.
Yet we gave both them clubs a fortune to take them.
You couldnt make it up.

Yeah the constants in this omnishambles are the board, making a mess of recruitment, and the players who have seen off a few managers. We do have some players who we should deffo try to keep like Richy, DCL, Gray and Doucoure but most of the rest of them I’d be pretty open to selling if anyone wanted them. Even Digne has been poor for the last couple of seasons.
