I don't know if this has been posted anywhere around the forum but I found it interesting and thought I'd post it.

Also my feeling is that this kind of thing also does creep into all types of discussions regarding football including on this forum, so maybe take that extra second to think before you hit send.

Personally, I was not really aware.

Guess it's kind of the problem. I'd probably need to hear a few things back to actually hear it. But genuinely never heard anything really.

If you really want to notice it go find a game with an African national team where the commentator is only really familiar with about 3 of the players. It descends pretty quickly.

Probably why i don't notice! Being realistic, when do we get exposed to African National Sides? The more common players Salah/Mane/Saiss, you see, so i guess you wouldn't see that issue on a weekly basis.

I have no reason to not believe you, and it's appalling if so!

Interesting article. Was there any further break down to see how it compared country to country?

Us humans still have a very long way to go as a species.

Well an example I remember of it being pretty apparent was Senegal at the last World Cup and although aside from Koulibaly and Mane none of the players were in super high level teams basically all of them had played in one of the top 5 European leagues. Which is to say real information was out there if you cared to look.

And some of it in that game wasn't even unjustified. Senegal played Mane, Sarr, Balde and Niang at the same time which actually is pacey. But also if all you can say about Mane is he is pacey or Koulibaly is that he's strong, well that isn't great is it?

All generalisations based on a person's ethnicity are crass, and have no empirical evidence to back it up.

I think its bollocks personally.

Its not racial bias to suggest black athletes have more power and are stronger, name a sport and the black person will stand out for their power and strength.

If people want to turn praise about a positive into a negative that's on them.
I disagree but fine, apply this to the parts about intelligence.

I think it depends where people are from.

Some countries have a very poor education system, I don't think you can label everybody as stupid of a certain race, but some nations educate their people better.

Sadly some parts of Africa have very poor education.

Whether you went to a good school or not means nothing for how smart you are on a football pitch.

so is this saying you cant actually call traore from wolves fast and strong

Are we considering that racist now,?

Journalists and commentators love cliches, and I think it applies here.

I don't think it's racial bias, just lazy presentation.
