Oct 9 2010 by David Bartlett, Liverpool Echo
A TEENAGER killed after attending an 18th birthday party has been named as James McVey.
Police released Mr McVey's name following a post-mortem examination which confirmed he died from head injuries.
Detectives are appealing for taxi drivers who picked up people from the party and nearby roads to come forward.
The 18-year-old was found dying in an alleyway near Dunny's social club in Stalmine Road, Walton by emergency services at around 12.20am today.
Police said that once the celebration finished a number of party goers remained outside the venue before a disturbance broke out.
Emergency services were called and on arrival found the 18-year-old victim in an alleyway near the social club.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police are keen to speak to any taxi drivers that collected fares in Rice Lane and Stalmine Road between midnight and 1am.
Detectives said they were particularly appealing for the driver of a silver private hire vehicle that was in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch.
Two teenagers - one aged 15, the other 16 - were arrested in connection with the incident. One has been released on police bail.
