As much as you like to propagate that myth, it's simply not true:

  • Called Kirkby as dead in the water
  • Moshiri a fraud
  • Koeman a Dutch fraud
  • Brands as another Dutch fraud
  • advocated VVD when at Celtic and Mitrovic 3 years ago and Hickey 3 years ago etc etc
  • called out Jelavic as tat

...the list is endless...I just dont like to trumpet my success rate.

I`d trust a prediction from Derek Acorah, over one of yours.

France are a good side weakened by injuries. They are beatable. But England - and their players - have to perform. There will be a lot of talk about Southgate, but that's a deflection mechanism. Time for the Fodens and Sakas to turn up when it matters and perform. If the players do that, we can then turn our attention to tactics, etc. But big games are for big players. Let's really see what these lads are made of.
Think it’ll come down who defends better as simple as that sounds.

France haven’t kept a clean sheet yet, England have generally looked more solid.

Walker has to have the game of his career on Saturday. Mbappe is going to destroy England otherwise.
Not really impressed by France keep Mbappe quiet (tough ask i know) but do that and they are well beatable.

I'd guess we will go completely defensive to leave no space for him to run into and play Rashford with his pace to hit them on the counter.

I cant see Rashford starting against France. It'll be same team that started against Senegal, with Phillips replacing Rice if he's still unwell.

But Mbappe will be doing two things against England: getting in behind them if they push out (I dont care how quick Walker is he's not catching Mbappe over 20 meters or so) and he'll be firing in crosses for Giroud to get on the end of. And if England double up on him they'll just leave someone like Dembele or Griezmann open.

France have also played better sides than England. Certainly I would argue Denmark and possibly Poland were stronger than Iran, Wales, the USA, and Senegal. Australia are hardly weaker than any of those sides in England's group either.

I think England have a real shot on Saturday, but they've played nobody at all yet. Not their problem - they've handled what they needed to very well, in general - but I wouldn't be drawing too much from either side's performances to date. This is a classic "on the night" match.

... and sadly England are the more likely to bottle it than France.

He's been finished at his club, but his form in this World Cup is a massive return to form.

You'll like this article as it has a lot of stuff about 'No.6' and 'No.8'.
