You do realise that Brexit has caused the increased number of asylum seekers arriving by boat don’t you ?
There is actually nothing wrong with asylum seekers coming to this country, we could take a lot more than we do but the govt is scared to. The govt could re introduce the Migrant Impact Fund so councils don't feel a strain.

Just remember the govt housed everyone at the drop of a hat during COVID. This was after Brexit and with refugees. Homelessness is a political choice. As long as homelessness exists the establishment can posture and allow refugees to be blamed while they accumulate more wealth.

Labour are scrambling to say they're not racist right now but not once have they said there is a positive argument for refugees coming in.

My dog died. Don't worry about work. Take 2 weeks off and when you come back you will have a managed return. Is mornings only for two weeks OK?
Not everybody copes with things in the same way. Comments like this are why people don't speak up about their mental health because they feel like won't be listened to.

Maybe some people do "fake" illnesses, but for the people who aren't they need this support, not their money taken away and forced to work whilst not mentally able to apply themselves.

My friend, I work for a homeless charity (we run 3 hostels for homeless 16-25 year olds). I live on a small island and see the problems people face here, I guess these are massively increased in large cities. It’s frustrating when we are getting 10-20 referrals a week when there are numerous council properties sitting empty…. Or… controversial I know…. 1 person living in a 3 bedroom property. I also agree with you that the issues raised are political … and avoidable if the will was there.

I work for the NHS,I write FIT notes daily.

I also have daily discussions with patients about how it may not be helpful to their mh to sign them off and how work provides structure, purpose, social interaction, extra finance etc.

Large proportion don't care, if they don't get it from me then they'll try and get an appt via urgent gp request at the surgery.

Taking an axe to the PIP system was the best thing this Govt could have done and they bottled it. I assessed PIP for yrs and it is an absolute joke, if you fail hard enough you'll get money in your pocket.
I know next to nothing about PIP or UC but it seems like something where the sheer amount of bureacracy, red tape, assessments, doctors appointments etc etc must cost an absolute fortune before a penny hits a claimants bank account.

Wouldn't Universal Basic Income just make more sense?
