Progress

We need to change the squad and get rid of a fair few players who are not top 10 standard let alone top 6.

I'm not going to make my mind up on anything manager based until we give him his players for his team. We are crap, here is our proof finally.

So after today's result let's try and be positive. The defence has been better this season even if it does look like Jagielka might be just about done.

What other signs of progress have you seen since the change in manager?

None.

None whatsoever.

And even the improvement we thought we were seeing at the back early doors has largely dissipated since Stek was hit with a feather and let that goal in against Boro.

In fact I will go further and say we are actually moving backwards as our young players have been pushed sideways.

We have four wide men, three of whom are vieing for one position as a player whom is not IMO as good as any of them is undroppable on account of the absolutely ridiculous money we paid for him.

Not a popular opinion and no doubt some fellows will want to rubbish it but hey, I am only answering the question as posed in the OP ;)

be very limited progress until mccarthy, jagielka, lennon, mirallas, duelofeu, valencia, oviedo, funes mori, cleverley etc are no longer getting games.

I think this is a major problem right now.

You are suggesting that we get rid of those players and they should not be getting games yet most you listed have not been getting game anyway...

Its the "good" players who are an issue as well.

Williams and Gueye have been good signings.

And also in Enner Valencia we seem to have managed to sign one of the most morally bankrupt characters in the league, only the best is good enough and all that.

Should have kept Big Vic, I bet he pays his child maintenance

He's bought players spent a fair bit his inability to get rid of the baggage - Klopp did that we give Gibson a contract really?????

...I think it's difficult to move players on. They are on mega contracts and content to see them out. I think Gibson was fortunate to get an extension when we were in the transition to a new manager.

I'm not supporting Koeman but I think failure to 'get rid of the baggage' is a situation we have to accept to a certain extent.
