Primary Penalty Taker?

Does anyone know why Jelavic didn't take our pen?

I just assumed he was our primary penalty taker, as your striker usually is. I'm not complaining as Baines is absolutely lethal from the spot, and he does seem to love scoring late equalisers/winners against his old club.

Jelavic takes a good pen himself though, and strikers usually take them for their tallies.

Baines is our best penalty taker by far. In the unlikely event he isn't on the pitch when we get a penalty, it will be Jelavic.

That penalty Baines took today was absolutely never going to be saved. Putting it right in the top corner with venomous pace is the perfect penalty, and Baines always delivers

oh yeah, his penalty today was superb , wigan keeper has a record of penalty saves..wonder if this was why he really went for top corner..any less and keeper might have got to it, quite brave by baines there

Jela got to take the pen against... who was it again? Newcastle? Swansea? Bainesy was on the pitch then too, but i figure it's just the heat of the moment that decides it, and Pienaar there picked up the ball and handed it deliberately to Bainesy.

Gerrard, Lampard, Baines, Harte, Nolan, Gomez, Adam, Larsson, Cabaye, Taarabt (midfielders/defenders) vs Balotelli, RVP, Adebayor, Lambert (forwards) from what I can think of.

I prefer forwards to take pens so they're more likely to hit 20+ goals a season.... but..... ya can't take it off Baines, he's a ninja at em.
