Press conference....

So far in his presser's he seems to have become a different beast than his Wigan ones. "I like it" ....At Wigan he seemed to be like a wounded animal, explaining loosing players as "well were Wigan" etc.... Different kettle of fish here, he has his chest stuck out, explaining loosing players as, Why would we? "We're Everton football club" He's still a complete gentleman with it, but you can see where he would of maybe got pushed around by the press guys in his Wigan days, its not gonna happen now he's EFC manager....

Well done Roberto, finding it hard not to like everything about you so far!

Sharp and a class act. Love the man. Really happy we got him.

At some point in the season Moyes will be used as a big stick to beat Martinez in, I predict when we lose two games and leak a couple of easy goals. Nailed on.

Can't see how, given Moyes' track record of beginning seasons it hardly stellar. In fact, I'd call it awful.

we need RM to grow in confidence and to feel at home -
that will filter through to the players -
hopefully we have an enjoyable season for all concerned ahead of us -
lets give RM all our support until he deserves to lose it ..... hopefully that will not be soon

We know games are going to be lost, some marginally and possibly some scary 4-0 defeats but lets not act like the RS and jump on his back. It's gonna happen but I honestly couldn't think of a better man for our club.

At the present time I agree with you. So different to the naivety of Brenda re Suarez 'he owes us'. Smacks of desperation, and a complete lack of understanding of the modern player. I feel that if Martinez has an awkward situation, his answer will simply be '**** happens...we move on' which I like.

I like the fact that he wants to play really tough competition in pre-season. Clearly he sees preseason as more than just a fitness and training exercise. We definitely would learn more from getting beat by the likes of Juve or Real Madrid than we would be beating say Blackburn 3 or 4 nil.

Learn even more if we beat them though!

The problem with Brenda and Liverpool is they still think there the big boys, part of the utd's, Chelsea's and city's of England. The fact it's been twenty yrs since winning the league, a fair few yrs since being in the CL and the fact that big players would choose 5/6 other English teams before them seems to be lost with that lot.

That's why there deluded enough to think Suarez would want to stay with them. We'v as much chance as CL qualification as them. Once Gerrard ritires that really will be the end of them! Can't see sterling carrying them for the next 10yrs!

Not trying to piss on your parade but you know moyes organised our Pre-season not Martinez.

Could well have both Merseyside clubs utterly asset stripped by August. £40 million in the pocket but losing our best players. Personally I trust Martinez to spend his fraction better than Brenda and the moneyballers who will spunk all of theirs

Martinez is perfect for Everton, he's got flamboyance, charisma and he's cool. He's one of the new breed, he's got that air about him.

Moyes was the opposite character to Martinez.
Flamboyance, charisma and cool are all misplaced words. They're not fit for an Everton manager, certainly not the kind of ideal character for me. What I see is humanity, decency, fairness and wit. He isn't dismissive, obstructive, rude or ignorant, all of which are descriptions that now more than ever feel applicable to our previous manager, who would lurch from dour and dull to aggressive and unpleasant. Martinez evidently thinks alot harder about what his words mean instead of merely spitting them out with snarling venom, and because of that it makes all of us - players, staff, media, fans - feel like our opinions and our emotions matter more. That is what I like to see. That is what makes me happy about his appointment. Martinez is about protecting the interests of the entire club, not just his own.

There'll certainly be a difference when Gerrard retires, but Brenda isn't a particularly bad manager and with their financial backing I can't see them finishing outside the top 8 for the next 5 years or so.
