Preseason???

As of now, we still have not heard any news from the club regarding their plans for the preseason. Meanwhile many other clubs are announcing tours of the US and marquee games which are generating a lot of buzz here stateside. What are are plans for the summer? Surely we had announced the USA tour at this point last year.

We announced the US tour in April last year. God knows that's taking them so long.

only thing i had heard was a visit to austria.

I imagine we have a fair few supporters over there thanks to Pienaar.

From another forum:

The club will be participating in the Guadiana Cup, a three team tournament to be played in the Algarve, Portugal, hosted by Benfica. The other team is yet to be confirmed. Dates to be confirmed, but it will either be Friday July 20th to Sunday July 22nd, or Friday July 27th to Sunday July 29th. So the story goes, David Harrison (EFC secretary) was in the Algarve last week to finalise the deal to participate in this. It will be announced shortly.

Aston Villa were in it in 2010, along with Benfica and Feyenoord. In 2008, it was Benfica, Blackburn and Sporting Lisbon. Last year, it was Benfica, PSG and Anderlect.

Other friendlies on tap are the usual ones - Bury vs Everton, Friday July 13th; and Rochdale vs Everton, TBC.

It is thought (but not confirmed) that after the Algarve trip, the club will head to the U.S. for their usual pre-season preparation, week commencing July 30th.

Rangers wanted to play us in a friendly at Ibrox in mid-July, but the uncertainty surrounding their club meant that they were unable to confirm they'd be able to pay the policing costs, and thus it fell through.

I heard the Guadiana Cup rumour at the Wolves game on Sunday too.
