Can't believe we went about 15 posts before this came out.

On topic...... Why would you go into a competition with the mindset that you couldn't or didn't want to win it. If we play anywhere near like we did last season, we can absolutely win the EL. Just looking at some of the finalists in recent years is all the proof you need.

A quick google search tells me the person in that avatar isn't called Zoe and in actual fact is an artist from london

Totally agree. It frustrates the hell out of me how we don't put more effort into trying to win the League Cup.
It's not like we're winning trophies year on year is it? It's been 20 (twenty) years since we won a cup!!!!
I do agree that winning the UEFA Cup is more "glamorous" but the League Cup is also attainable and I for one would be happy to finish mid-table and even below if it meant we won a chuffing trophy.

Does he see the europa league as a cup we could win and therefore gain champions league, which would allow us to sacrifice positions in the league?

Have an awful feeling we won't be trying hard in the league cup again due to squad sizes again :(

My take is this:

Martinez is building something here for the long term. That includes raising the profile of the club. Even if our league form disappoints this season, it's highly unlikely we'll finish lower than seventh. A good run in the EL will do a lot to publicise the club outside of England. A good league cup run, er, not so much.

I know a pot is a pot which for 20 years we haven't got but I think bobby is looking more long term.

  • Go to google
  • Switch to search by image
  • Click on the camera icon and enter the url of the image to search for
