Power Shift - Managerial Appointment

My uninformed view is that Moshiri and the board are only interested in two things: ensuring staying in the Premier League in order to be able to generate loans, and building the new ground. After that, they can sell up if they want to.

Yes, of course staying in the Premiership is all important...we can all agree on that.

The appointment of a manager was always going to be difficult, a manager like Fonseca might be brilliant but equally likely to be a disaster as he had no concept of what he was facing.

Silva offered the exotic but also the experience and knowledge of the Premiership.

Allyrdyce is a safe pair of hands, vastly experienced and rated by many as better than the reputation he has with some .

I wonder which manager Bill Kenwright wanted and I can only imagine it was Dyche.

We do now need a period of stability,we need to move back up the table and I think that we will see a number of summer signings being moved on. Sam Allrdyce has this season to stabilise the club and next season to earn a new contract imo.

With the legitimate concerns that people have about Allardyce spending money in the transfer market, it would be interesting to see if Walsh gets an enhanced role, and what additional responsibilities Ryazantsev has.

We know that the summer recruitment process was an unmitigated disaster, with justifiable questions and criticism for Walsh as a result.

Perhaps Moshiri might further reduce his role in that sphere - but I think that's unlikely with his own appointee. It's more credible to think he will be given even more influence perhaps with Ryazantsev to be called in to monitor and control the financial aspect of player recruitment and keep to a budget - which would be significant as there seemed to be no co-ordination or oversight at all last summer.

Ryazantsev might also act as a buffer to the seemingly matey relationship between Walsh and Allardyce - as going unchecked that has potentially serious ramifications in terms of losing control of spending. We have already, relatively speaking seen no results for a huge outlay.

It can also only mean a diminished role for Elstone, hopefully significantly so.

All of that seems like a good idea, but looking at the way we manage our business, I am really doubtful. I have now lost track of the different threads in which I've posted that the business, PR, maangement, line management of football people etc, our image, branding, communications...we need to sort it all out!

As I have already said anyone who put any thought in would see its as polar opposite of a Kenwright appointment as you can get.

Kenwright never had to sack someone part way through the season when we were in the relegation zone and playing like we were the worst team in the league, so it's hard to second guess what he would have done in this situation.

I agree with you fully he would have wanted Unsworth to have the job full time, at least for the first 4 weeks anyhow.

Walter Smith?

Is Unsworth still in charge for Saturday? Sam deal hasn't gone through yet and I wonder who will take training tomorrow and do pre match presser?

...Allardyce and Lee have spent the day at USM FF according to Sky. I suspect their representatives are tying up deals whilst they prepare for the game. Hopefully, it’s all official before tomorrow’s press conference.
