Positives

At least the moon sized picture of the spanish tit will be taken down before the start of the new season. Thats another positive. Getting a decent list together here lads.

Roberto sent a weakened team to Swansea the week before the Europa League started. In view of our progress in the Europa League, was that such a poor decision?

We didn't win the league cup and we also didn't win the europa league.

It's difficult to argue it was a brilliant call.

I mean our progress was to the last 16, we didn't even reach the quarter finals. After beating Kiev at home, we were 6 games away from a trophy.

Before we even played a game in the league cup we were 6 games from a trophy.

So well done there. We got as close to winning the europa as we did a trophy you argued yourself that we never tried to win.

It's been a terrible season but my positives would be that, going forward, we don't have a world cup to contend with, we shouldn't have a messed up pre-season, we don't have to play Thursday nights.
I think there is a good spine to the team, I like stones and jags. I like Mc'Carthy and Gibson. I like Lukaku up front and Osman has shown what he's worth to the team. Pad the rest of that team out with some decent players and Martinez has no excuse not to be back at Moyses level next season.

Players I don't think have what it takes for a decent league push - Howard, Joel, Distin, Alcaraz, Oviedo, McGeady, Lennon, Atsu, Naismith, Kone, Pienaar, Barry, hibbo.

Players who are there abouts - Coleman, Garbut, Gibson, Besic, Mirallas, Barkley, Osman

Players who are vital for next season. Stones, Jags, Baines, McCarthy, Lukaku.

All in all, with a new keeper, there's a good first XI there.
Also think, if Gibson can stay injury free and hold down a first team spot, he would be a good shout for the Armband

Sorry, covered about 3 thread titles here but there you go.

Besic stepping in and up.
Robles proving he's a GK
Stones progress continuing apace
Lukaku underlining he's a class striker
Garbutt getting his chance and taking it (now the beaut has to sign)
Lennon coming in and up and running straight away
Ledson, Dowell looking like they have a future in the first team
The EL campaign carrying our name back into Europe again (with distinction until Kiev 2nd leg)

By putting gloves on?
