Nothing is handed out in Oct, turn of the year get in a good position, Easter you then have realistic targets.

I think what will make it easier this yr is RS, Arsenal and Spurs aren't any better. Utd are better but still no great team yet
I agree. Man Utd still look like they will have a fight on to finish top 4. They have a lot of players for the same positions. Defensively and in CM they are short and have a lot of injury prone players. They're better than last year like. Chelsea and City will be top two but the next two could be anyone. Southampton have made an impressive start condsidering the changes they've made over the summer. I expect us to be up there by the end of the season.

I'd bet a mars bar AND a snickers on us going on a massive run, racking up loads of points but just missing out on top four becuase of our gash start. Typical Everton really.

I dont quite get this sorry (new fan here), how will teams in the CL give us a challenge?
They could drop into the Europa League if they fail in the CL group stage. I'm dreaming of an all Merseyside EL final in Poland; we owe those %$*£bags for 3 previous AMF's. One we were cheated out of by Alan Handball, and one which should never have taken place. The other one saw us playing without the worlds best keeper - that's the luck we have against the Red Menace

My contribution to the festival of positivity...if we don't concede a goal next game and QPR do, we'll no longer but the ones with the worst defensive record (goals conceded).
Ok, so we'll be joint worst. But that's somehow easier to bear. Maybe QPR will concede two.

Agree with a lot that's being said here, next 5 league games are crucial. If we could get at least 13 points from them we will be back in the mix. Looks like Martinez may have purposely undercooked us in pre season so the lads would finish the season strong, could this also be linked to all the long term injuries we have picked up?

Still think we will finish in top 6 personally, between us Pool, Spurs and United for the 4th spot. Utd have an edge on the others because they have no European football. Personally would take a cup success if it meant sacrificing league form, but never a good strategy if it all goes belly up.

so we need liverpool to beat them?

Finally! Some early season logic. Which seems to go together with some evertonians like oil and water. If it weren't for the arsenal and Leicester city fiascos, we'd be sitting just off top 4 after a hellish start. We shall overcome.

We will be fine , need the crowd , the whole crowd to get behind them versus Villa one good win will get the ball
rolling and as the injured players start coming back we will start moving up the league and getting further in the two
cup competitions.

We will all need plenty of money for Wembley and Poland. I'm getting a paper round and I'm 74!!!!!
