And what is this mispronunciation? I've only ever heard people say it one way - rhyming with ... actually I can't think of anything it rhymes with.

I pronounce it so it rhymes with Jacko, bet these poncy Americans say Tarrrrco. We just have to be grateful at this stage that they're intent on wiping each other off the planet.

To my Yank ears, sounds like it's being said "tack-o" (instead of the correct "tah-ko")

This is a bad computer version of the Yank taco, but it's close

Google translate does it well for me, but it's also probably cookied for Yank pronunciations anyway!
