I thought Id bring this up because, well its now the 'peoples pub' and this is very strange.
Its politics. And its become interesting.
In Australia the new Prime Minister is a guy called Kevin Ruud. Bit like a Headmaster, like most Pollies. He's a clever guy, he has made the Labor Party a force once more. He said sorry to the Aborigines for the wrongs of the past, and he's made the Liberal Party look like the Empire. He even put a wage freeze on ministers in part response to the Interest rate hikes.
But within a month or two, 'Question time' a usually very long and very boring proceedure where the Ministers all ask questions about things and usually get long winded answers; has become watchable. Ministers verballing each other, extensive use of props as gags, puns, stunts and general buffoonery.
Almost like a Reality TV show without the cheesy host.
Yesterday the opposition brought out a life size cardboard cut-out of the 'K-Rudd' because he wasnt in attendance. He was off in an Aboriginal community of something and pandemonium ensued. Four minsters kicked out and parliament suspended twice. Its becoming like a TV show in its own right, with the characters the actual leader of our country. If there was ever a way to get people really interested in the affairs of the country, this is a good way to do it in my opinion.
Okay my question is Politics. Do you follow it in your country? The U.S elections seem all hoopla and baby kissing, but who do you think will win? Will Gordon Brown ever do anything? Tony Blair was a pretty large figure that got reported on all the time here, but old Gordon hasnt said boo to a goose!
