I thought Id bring this up because, well its now the 'peoples pub' and this is very strange.

Its politics. And its become interesting.

In Australia the new Prime Minister is a guy called Kevin Ruud. Bit like a Headmaster, like most Pollies. He's a clever guy, he has made the Labor Party a force once more. He said sorry to the Aborigines for the wrongs of the past, and he's made the Liberal Party look like the Empire. He even put a wage freeze on ministers in part response to the Interest rate hikes.

But within a month or two, 'Question time' a usually very long and very boring proceedure where the Ministers all ask questions about things and usually get long winded answers; has become watchable. Ministers verballing each other, extensive use of props as gags, puns, stunts and general buffoonery.

Almost like a Reality TV show without the cheesy host.

Yesterday the opposition brought out a life size cardboard cut-out of the 'K-Rudd' because he wasnt in attendance. He was off in an Aboriginal community of something and pandemonium ensued. Four minsters kicked out and parliament suspended twice. Its becoming like a TV show in its own right, with the characters the actual leader of our country. If there was ever a way to get people really interested in the affairs of the country, this is a good way to do it in my opinion.

Okay my question is Politics. Do you follow it in your country? The U.S elections seem all hoopla and baby kissing, but who do you think will win? Will Gordon Brown ever do anything? Tony Blair was a pretty large figure that got reported on all the time here, but old Gordon hasnt said boo to a goose!

We have Prime Ministers Questions here that's a televised 'debate' every Wednesday at noon whereby politicians get to ask Brown questions. It's frankly a bit of a joke however that's sole aim seems to be to score cheap points and deliver headlines. All very punch and judy.

As for Gordon Brown in the press, well he marketed himself early on in his term as the antithesis of Tony Blair. Where Blair was a showman able to 'charm' (or smarm) his way through life, Brown was supposed to be about substance and seriousness. Unfortunately the past few months have seen gaffe after gaffe in various departments and he's looking a bit of a lame duck.

dont know what a 'pollies' is.

we have 'question time' here, but its a bbc show with a host, guests and an audience that ask questions. its live.

there is the parliament show/channel, but thats tiresome. in the program mentioned above it can get heated and cutting.

who gets to be the boss of your parliament? we used to have betty boothroyd (i think) not sure who presides now.

as for the states, the person that can take orders best and has the most money i suspect will win.

has it really been 11 years of dubya. heavens.

Michael Martin is the speaker of the house at the moment, and he's been embroiled in the allowances debacle, with his wife apparently charging us many thousands for cab fair's around London for her shopping. And he's leading the enquiry into the other bent sods and their allowances. Heaven help us.

really, i thought they got three at most.

if it was 2001, maybe thats why it seems to have passed.

could have swore he was in and had been for a while before that sad september afternoon.

I'm surprised he hasn't tried to fiddle things like Putin has so that he can remain in power whilst still, strictly speaking, adhere to their constitution and maintain the mask of democracy.

not sure dub has the nouse to have the friends putin has in the us equivalent of the kgb, or to have been a former top ranking agent in said organisation.

still, stability in russia (gas and 40 year old nuclear capable aircraft aside) has been a positive. although chechnya might not feel the same.

Muwahahahahahaha....

That's what's been going on already.

We at the VRWC (Vast Right Wing Conspiracy for you neophytes) engineered the last election so that Dubya could retain office for another four years.

Everyone knows Al Gore was the real winner yet we were able to control the Diebold voting machines and change votes from Gore to votes for Bush.

Stay tuned to see what we eeeeeeeeeevil Republicans have up our sleeve for the next four years.

*cue evil villain laugh
