6 + 2 Point Deductions

Theyre already a week delayed on this verdict thats been going on 18 months but we're expected to believe that they're going to have a hearing, conclude their findings, have an appeal and then publish the verdict all by May. All whilst juggling another clubs charge at the same time to the same deadlines. Whilst also preparing for a hearing on 115 charges for the richest club in the world.

Outside of everything else that is incredibly ambitious timescales.
The second hearing will be a lot easier now that they've realised they have no idea how to actually carry out an independent hearing.

They'll get a couple of dice, throw a double 6 and give Everton a 12 point deduction. They throw again, get a double 1 and give Forest a 2 point deduction.

The PL will claim it's all fair & reasonable and we'll live happily ever after in the Championship.

They’ve put the points away somewhere and now they can’t find them
My daughter did that with my son’s third kit socks.

She hid them as a joke, then forgot about even doing it. So much so that she helped look for them when we turned the house upside down to look.

2 months they were missing for - before they turned up under a seat cushion in the dining room and she finally remembered doing it.

Point is: … could happen.

Is he suggesting the verdict has been reached but is being withheld?

Because if the appeal board are still working on the verdict then as frustrating as it is there’s nothing the PL as one of the parties to it can do to speed it up. Any attempt to try to interfere with the timetable of their decision making would be totally improper.

Nothing stopping them from providing some sort of timescale. All the cloak and dagger secrecy is ridiculous. How can anyone trust a process that is so shrouded in mystery.

It must surely be dawning on them what a mess this will cause at the end of the season, and probably after it's done too. You never know, even at this late stage maybe the fact we've heard nothing reflects the fact the parties are trying to find an alternative solution to get these cases closed off by negotiation then get on with the football, because otherwise things will descent into farce. Unlikely, but if so we might continue to hear nothing til the clubs get together for a meeting next week.

I agree in general about the secrecy, there's no need for it to be so secretive and just fuels the feeling it's a total stitch-up.

In terms of timescales though I just don't see what can really be done. The commission, quite rightly, decide how long they need to reach a proper decision, just as a jury would get as much time as they need to deliberate. So the PL can't come out and say "this'll take two weeks max" because it's not for them to dictate, and nor should it be.

This is just him trying to garner publicity for himself. It’s actually quite a big job to do this appeal properly. Takes really quite some time to write up, fact check, check again etc….
It hasn’t been a ridiculous amount of time,
Be patient.
There are many complaints, but this is a silly one

He doesn’t need publicity for himself.. he’s an Everton fan frustrated by the lack of information about what on earth is going on - same as most of us. Publicity for himself 🤣

He’s doing his duty as the most senior Evertonian political figure in the country to apply pressure in Everton’s favour.

If anything, he’s jeopardising his reputation by publicly commenting on a Merseyside football club while Mayor of Manchester.

It’s not self-promotion. Be fair.

When did we enter our appeal? Late November or so?

I'd say its been a pretty lengthy process to be honest.

Especially when they are trying to fast track other charges through this season. Its going to be a complete mess and it makes the league table a farce.

I think Burnham is completely right on this. Every day that all this stuff remains unresolved the league loses even more credibility and results on the pitch continue to lose their importance.
