6 + 2 Point Deductions

Dave, with respect, you are doing exactly that.

We have no idea of whether an appeal will be succesful and although our position is now indeed perilous we have demonstrated that we can grind out wins and have time remaining this season to carry this on and out perform at least 3 other terrible teams.

I can't stop you assuming the absolute worst case scenarios for the coming months (you may even be proved right) but there is still hope for our Premier League survival if you look hard enough and that's what I choose to do.

Though still wanting to be part of this stinking mess of what the PL has become ... that's another story.
you don't have to look hard to see we are not getting relegated. All we have to do is win one game more than Sheffield and Luton do. Given that we have already won more games than both of them put together, I honestly don't see how anyone (apart from the obvious wum) can think we will get relegated.

I wonder when the independent regulator comes in, which it will, whether they can investigate the Premier League for corruption?

Seems that the Premier League have been doing everything to try and prevent it. Be very interesting what they’d find.

We broke away from the Football League who the FA hated. The FA were the toffs who ran the England team. they were the establishment. The Football League was a working-class organisation. We left because we wanted a bigger share of the pie.

It came about not through consultation but through dodgy backroom deals. As for unsanctioned Carter was trying to setup a Super League with Rangers and Celtic. Teams from different countries setting up a new League.

TV money was coming into the game. The English game was on its arse and one of the worst in world football. The proposals were already there since the mid 80s. 10 clubs were initially involved and in favour of doing so years prior. The FA made proposals on it. The entire 1st Division all agreed to it.

The whole thing was eventually arranged through the correct channels and had everyone clubs agreement. The 5 clubs were used to push it through these channels as they had the biggest sway

The Super League was nothing like this. It was an unsanctioned closed league for the wealthiest clubs with no input from any body in world football.

You're misconstruing the similar intentions of how they became...ie money. But reasons behind and execution are the polar opposites.

The only worry I have is that after the appeal they increase it to 12 points. I'm basing that on the stories from the other week.
I wouldn't have a clue to be honest, the minutiae of football finance is way too dull for me to get even a layman's grasp on the technical details. I did read yesterday that by the prems own recommended scale, which was oddly rejected we would have recieved 10 points deduction anyway, so you would have thought 10 is the max. That they wanted it rushed through for last season exposes their objective a bit.

I'm actually the opposite, I honestly don't care that much.

I get live coverage of every EPL game and apart from Everton I don't think I've watched a full game all season. I have just lost interest in the premier league as a whole. I have watched 2 champions league games this century, and that is only because my son wanted to watch them with me.

A lot of people are saying they can see the day when football will eat itself, that day happened for me many years ago
I've floated more and more to rugby league and cricket the last few years, even a bit of NFL. Its a shame I hate what boxing has become as my interest in that is near zero, I still train in the gyms but when lads talk about fights on the weekend I haven't a clue what happened.

Think I will always have a connection to Everton that will exceed any other sporting institution, but the prem and the sport itself has been destroyed as a spectacle by its capitalist greed. International tournamnets are still great though.

Dont be so sure that the season is just going to go along as it has so far. Luton were a minute away from beating liverpool. Bournemouth have just beaten newcastle. Sheff utd have just picked up their first win.
I hope you are right. But im certainly not counting on some of these teams just rolling over for the rest of the season.

Look where we are mate. Rock bottom with Burnley. To expect this lot to go out and rack up another 34-36 points to give us a chance of staying up is insane.

That's not going to happen, so we're going to have to hope that Sheff Utd, Luton and Burnley don't get near another 30 points. ATM that looks a tall order for them, but I would say it's likely that one of them will get their act together and go on a run. Then we'll see panic at this club.

I see us panicking and cracking.
Have a day off we’re 2 points off luton I would hate to be in the trenches with you ya big fanny we roll are sleeves up and fight FFS

I've followed the NFL more over recent years as even though it's America's sport it is the most socialist league in the world.

All teams have the same salary cap. Sponsorship and merchandise sales are divided up and given equally across the teams.

The Draft system gives the worst teams in the league the perfect chance for them to improve straight away.

While the Premier league is the capitalist greed league.

A farce:

Until 2021, a club’s spending on capital projects, such as stadiums or training grounds, was not part of the PSR calculation. The logic was this outlay was wise investment, not risky, unsustainable spending by some fly-by-night, seeking on-pitch success in the here and now.

Yet from 2022, as Everton were paying out heavily for a new stadium from which the Premier League and the city of Liverpool will benefit, that spend did count against them. The goalposts changed.

I don’t know if the NFL is the same but I can’t take most yank sports seriously (and I love the NBA) since you can’t get relegated and teams purposely throw whole seasons to get a better draft. Madness. Imagine doing that in footie.

Derby got 9 points for misrepresenting the value of their stadium, we have gone way beyond that. We have been punished because of the financial mismanagement of the owners and the board, not because of a witch hunt.

As for 92 we jettisoned the rest of the Leagues for money, how is that different to the ESL.

We haven't. . "The Premier League has made it clear that it makes no allegation of dishonesty. We consider, therefore, that Everton did not consciously intend to circumvent the Rules...t is not a case of a deliberate breach."

We haven't misrepresented anything. The league have not accepted what we've put as losses as part of P&R. No matter how outlandish those figures are....there's no 'dishonesty'

As for Derby... 9 points...in addition to the 12 for entering administration. As mentioned...these points on the back of more issues and were more than 1 crime.
