It's a room 101 thing for me... I get really annoyed by it. I haven't got a problem with actual photographs; it's just people taking pictures of themselves to fish for likes and approval that I hate.

Taking a vain picture of YOURSELF posing like a trout and then posting it on social media so people like it and tell you how great you look isn't.
The Mona Lisa isn't a 'self-portrait' but I get your point. Surely 'van Goughs' self portrait would be the ultimate in self pitying selfies...It's a thing as old as time though, innit?
400 years ago all the rich vain people would hire an artist to draw a picture of their face and then put it up in their gallery in a git big gold frame.
