It's about self promotion. It's not "look where I was/what I saw" its "LOOK! I WAS THERE!! LOEV MEEEE!!!11!!"
Saw loads of Reading fans with "selfie sticks" around Bradford the other day, they soon got called out.

If we win though the players can crack on for me.

It's a room 101 thing for me... I get really annoyed by it. I haven't got a problem with actual photographs; it's just people taking pictures of themselves to fish for likes and approval that I hate.

It's just genuinely the way the world has turned. People are superficial and judge you on your social media presence nowadays. Irritating, sure, but it isn't going to change any-time soon.

Pretty much. It's just a fad. There'll be something new to replace it soon enough. And the same people will get annoyed by it. And I'll get annoyed by them.

That's cool and each to their own of course. But could you explain to me why it annoys you? I mean it doesn't really affect you does it?
