Que Cahill bagging the winner and all the detractor's joining in a chorus of "Tim Cahill, Tim Cahill...".

It's silly logic that mate. Just because you don't want a player to be the focal point of the team anymore doesn't mean that said player is not capable of doing something good, or that you can't cheer that player if they score.

With our ridiculous lack of options today, even I've got to admit we have to play Cahill. And I hope he does well because we need points.

The team is:

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Coleman, Fellaini, Rodwell, Bilyaletdinov, Osman, Cahill. Subs: Mucha, Drenthe, Stracqualursi, Neville, Gueye, Barkley, Vellios.

6 central midfielders and no recognised strikers in the starting XI.
We sold two strikers in the transfer window.
This squad is unravelling before our eyes. Kenwright has failed us, and Moyes has lost the plot.

so, no striker in the starting XI. doesnt matter. it's not about "recognized" strikers or not, all that matters is players getting the ball in. doesnt matter whether its a defender, a midfielder or even howard as long as we score em. hope moyes got a plan. and i want to see the stracq today!

Hate to agree, 'cause we usuallly do so it comes of like backslapping...but that's bang on. For me, it's Dogs of War 11/12 if we're going to make something of this season and we need to get back to pressuring the ball for 90 mins as it's always been when we're most effective. We're not going to Barca our way to a top half finish with possession football, I'm afraid. That's actually my biggest gripe over the last 3/4 seasons, we don't pressure the ball enough any more.

Being the massive tit that I am, I have to quote myself here now with all the comments about not closing down in the match thread. I need to stop commenting about upcoming matches, it's costing us points...before the loss to QPR I mentioned having a bad feeling about it. Sorry all, off the slit my wrists.

Best game I've seen for a while from Cahill today, he really give it a go.

Yep. Toccy Bstyles was right*, like. He's not a bad CF, it just depends who's behind him. With Ossie there, as Ossie bloody well should be, we looked good.

*someone said I say that like 5 times a day. They were right.

I've been saying this for six months but Ossie has to have made himself first choice for that role now. I know a lot of people want Bily there and Moyes likes to play Cahill there but Osman is just so damned good playing in the hole, he makes us look a vastly better team.

Yep. 100%. But how long till Barkley is banging down the door for that role?
