Over the many years that I played football I played with players I disliked as people but it never effected how I played with them. Not Everton related but most people who met or played with RVP didn't like him. Theo talked about him in his book and said what kind of cretin he was. I remember Huntelaar also hated RVP and didn't want to be playing at the same time as him in the NT.

Also, it was noticable that on those rare occasions that Andy Van Der Meyde got a game, players were very reluctant to pass to him. I believe that teammates didn't rush to join in the celebrations when Kanchelskis scored, in his second season.
