Players out on loan 2023/24

An night of EFL Cup action. Reece Welch played the full match in Forest Green's scoreless draw at home to Brighton U21s. He missed a pen though in the shoot out which his team lost.

Stanley Mills was rested for Oxford United who thrashed Chelsea U21s 5-0.

Other U21 sides that lost to lower league opposition included the RS, Villa and Spurs. Good to see our youngsters getting a rare win today at Mansfield.

Zan-Luk Leban got a clean sheet in Farsley's 2-0 league win at home to Boston. Farsley still 19th.

Great result for Chesterfield, beating League One table toppers Portsmouth 1-0. Didn't see the game (I live in Barcelona) but according to the BBC, Harry Tyrer made a couple of superb saves. He's apparently 6 foot 4 now. A loan in the Championship next season and maybe he could be ready to give Pickford some competition.

….short highlights on BBC;

Judging by this Pompey minght need a keeper next year if they go up.

Mason Holgate back for Southampton as Bednarek was suspended (for one game only). He played the full game and they won 2-1 at home to West Brom. Saints are 4th.

Lewis Warrington still can't get even a minute off the bench despite Plymouth losing 2-1 at Leeds. Plymouth are 19th.

Managerless Oxford United won 3-2 at Orient after being three nil up at half time. Orient pulled 2 back before Stanley Mills was taken off on 68 minutes. Oxford held on for the win and are 2nd.

A trip over the water for Reece Welch but another defeat for Forest Green this time 3-0 at Tranmere. He played 90 minutes on the right of three centre backs. Rovers are 23rd.

Chesterfield are now 5 points clear at the top of the National League with a game in hand after a 4-2 win at home to Barnet. Could have been better as Harry Tyrer conceded 2 goals in stoppage time.

Zan-Luk Leban's Farsley won 2-1 at Buxton and are 18th in the National League North.

Warrington's loan been a disaster, Mills also in and out of the team.

We should only send young players out on loan with a deal that they must be playing, Warrington if stayed here and trained with us while playing for U21 was much better than his current loan

….ha, ha, you can’t get guarantees on playing time, young footballers have to earn their place. It’s competitive and points are at stake, managers will select Teams to win matches.
