Didn’t Ray Wilson go on to be an undertaker? Which is bonkers by todays standardsThe best left back in have seen playing for Everton, Ray Wilson, was 30 when we signed him and 35 when he left. Gareth Barry and Richard Gough also come to mind.
A run of games and he looked a world beater but then broke down again.Wonderful player, but sadly injured more often than not.
I read Ashley Young article before and how much he's enjoying playing for the club, crowd.
Some of my favourite players have come to us at the end their careers. Didn't stay that long but great while they were here.
Richard Gough - one of the best centre backs I've ever seen play for us. Classy and hard as nails.
Peter Beardsley - an absolute magician of a player.
Nigel Martyn - just a great, reliable keeper, would've been England number 1 if it wasn't for Seamen.
Just a few of that spring to mind.
I know we've had some duds too!
It's Seaman, not Seamen...SeamAnActually take Martyn over Seamen every day of the week. Seamen was solid but massively overrated.
oh they were awful
proper embarrassing
I don’t think Rod was at the end of his career, he just wasn’t very good throughout his career, certainly while he was with us he didn’t have many fans.Rod Belfitt
I remember that well.. he came in and scored 9 goals in his first 8 games, saved us from relegation and was our top scorer for the season with only 8 games for us..Kevin Campbell had just turned 29 when he joined us on loan.
100% agree. Just didn't play for a fashionable club. Weird the way some players have these elevated England careers and some are never really given a chance.
Badloaf, I thought Richard Gough had a great first season with us but hardly played the second season because of injuries!I remember watching Gough warm up pre-match at Goodison and he was kneeling on the floor, bending himself double, like he was made out of elastic. Must have been one of the the fittest players we’ve ever had.
Martyn should have been England’s No 1. He was better than Seaman, and he didn’t have a rubbish ponytail either.
He did, his family had an undertakers business in Yorkshire I believe. My God, what a footballer Ramon was.Didn’t Ray Wilson go on to be an undertaker? Which is bonkers by todays standards
Pretty sure he doesn't spell his name with a capital A.It's Seaman, not Seamen...SeamAn
