Play the kids!

I'm not sure how comparing a makeshift u23 side with the first team is relevant?

Really? Perhaps one of you could name the International and England u21 internationals who aston villa played in their relegation season?

They did play a lot of kids who clearly weren't ready though. Similar to what you've advocated. Even the ones I have the most faith in (Davies) aren't having any impact on turning things around for us.

People were screaming for the inclusion of Davies, Lewin and Kenny. All have had their chance in recent weeks. None have played well if we're being honest.

1 -- Who would be better than Kenny at this point....certainly not Cuco.

2 -- At centre back, would Holgate be any worse than Williams...

3 -- Baningime and Davies aren't playing worse than Gana and schneiderlin

4 -- Would Lookman and Vlasic provide more threat than Lennon/Mirallas

5 -- If not DCL then who else up front, I feel the issue is more the service he receives

All about opinions...

I think at this point we've got to try and play the older lads into some form. At times like this you turn to experience, not some youngsters with decent potential. And that's all those kids are. It's not a 16 year old Wayne Rooney waiting in the wings.

Have you seen Joe Williams goal last night mate?

Dowell is getting a lot of the plaudits, but in a typically quiet understated way Williams is having a great season down at Barnsley.

..I did. As folk on here know, i’ve been a big fan of Joe Williams for quite a few years and i’m chuffed he appears to have left his injuries behind and is having a real positive impact on loan.

I've been really impressed with his attitude and how much he's improved over the last few seasons. Interesting to see Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports the other night talk about what it takes to make it as a young player. He basically said there's so much talent about that the real defining characteristic is mentality and desire. Joe Williams appears to have both in abundance as do a few of our youngsters. If we'd have know that Unsworth was going to get the hot seat for a while then it would have been good to have these players around to play!

Has anybody said you don't win anything with kids yet?

Discuss Kenny at right back. One good game, one bad game, a couple of average games to memory.
Put myself in Kenny boots. I am looking to the side of me at two internationals playing centre halves. Bit of nerves for me going on.
Not because I am in awe, it is because I know that both are awful these days and I feel under even more pressure.
Put Kenny next to two lads like Holgate and Keane (examples) and the nerves are gone. Suddenly more comfortable and relaxed, fewer mistakes.

This is not the long term answer, but a short term solution until quality arrives.
Midfield needs to find the right balance as there are good players in there.
Davies has bags of energy and needs to channel it correctly and so needs a wiser head in with him.
He was also possibly our third best player last season.
The issue with our midfield is not that they are bad players, they are all devoid of form. Sucked out of them by the football vampire that is RK.
So Gana stays in the team. However, he needs managing, coaching and be totally disciplined.
So I agree with Vlasic and Lookman out wide, given a chance ahead of kev and Aarron by the way.
DCL is developing the forward role and offers an outlet.
The best two number tens are Siggy and Ross.....

The story of this season has been seeing if our tosh unprotected defence can hold out against even the average of sides.
The other side of that issue is where are the holding midfielders at crucial times?

There is defo a case for some of the kids to be given a chance, but they alone will not solve the problem.
Other more experienced players have badly let the side down this season and need to find form or shown the door.

Then after we have stopped them going in and increasing the chances of a draw, just need to score a goal and upgrade to a win.
