Proves once again that the money men don't care about grass roots football fans
I hate American football but feel for the diehards who can't come here for their games
Rugby league is similar but not as far with their weekend thing

This is the downside of the devil's compact when we celebrate being able to buy players for 30 or 40 million. Nobody in the sport gives a flying one about match-going fans - if they thought they could get away with it, they would pay extras minimum wage to fill the stadia and pipe in crowd noise (hello NFL) to keep the 'atmosphere' for their global TV and merchandising audience.
Nobody will want to see West Brom, Brighton, Newcastle etc etc etc
...which will then be used as the argument for the European (later global?) Super Soccer League. Hopefully I will be long in my grave by then.

Awful idea that thankfully will never got off the ground. All very well in thory but extremely impractical. Most clubs would resist the idea based on how the potential long travel could impact their season. Then we have the problem of who plays who, no doubt that Man Utd Vs Chelsea in Tokyo for example would be an amazing spetical to watch and would draw an amazing crowed but Swansea City Vs Huddersfield at the same venue? Ye no so much. Another reason clubs would resist it is based on who would play who. Say Chelsea miss out in the title based on a single point and during this ludicrous 39th game nonsanse they had lost to Man Utd, meanwhile Man City have won the title by a point after playing West Brom in Dubai. The whole premise is flawed right from the start and would never get off the ground. Im thankful for that because it would most negativity impact match going fans who follow their club everywhere and would have to travel to some ludicrous location all for tv and further revenue for a billion pound corporation.

Not keen on this me, on the face of it.

Why is this bugger so obsessed with this idiotic idea?

In the name of goodness the EPL is already awash with more money than is healthy for it.....hence the obscene wages and transfer fees.

It is just sheer avarice.

You can just see how they'd try and work it out as well. They'd have a 12 kick off, then a 2pm then a 4pm on the Sat with the same again on Sunday followed by a 6pm kick off then an 8pm on Monday. All for TV of course and they'd market it with some cringeworthy tag-line like "Armageddon weekend!". Why they're pushing for this God only knows because while it would obviously make a fortune in the short term it would cost them far more in the end and kill off the goose that laid the golden egg. It's just an extremely short sighted buissness strategy that's makes zero sense and smacks of pure stupidity.
