Pienaar

Read the other day that Moyes gave him painkilling injections to get him through the full 90 mins. Obviously I can't verify this.

He's been a good player for us over the years. Seems to be fashionable to call him, Hibbert and Osman 'nobs' these days.

Shame. Apart from drink-driving like. That's bad.

Seem to recall he had a bit of a female problem back then.

Honestly he's by all accounts a bit of a bulb.

Was a class player but I've never liked him as a guy; I'm not a kopite, I don't forgive off the field bellish-ness for being good on the pitch. I think Everton have a good reputation; we have good lads and good pros in the team.

Admittedly you need ability as well. Not sure I'd fancy a team of XI gents playing to a Sunday league standard over XI world class snides. This is why I love John Stones. Top lad, top player, crap haircut. He's almost perfect.

I agree, we shouldn't gloss over people's faults.

He was a good player for us though, and if we're going to remember the bad, we should also appreciate the good.

Yep despite his personal flaws - which I don't forgive - but focusing solely on his playing career he's done very well for us.

He was superb from 2009-2011. Went in Jan 2011 and you could tell how much we missed him. That Jan that he came back to us he was incredible. We needed him to sign and I'm glad we got him back.

Been saying for a while though that due to the type of player he is, and how many knocks he always picked up during a game, I think his bodies just given up on him now. Real shame, because as he never relied on pace he could still be a superb player, but he just can't keep fit.

I havent been a fan of Pienaar for a long while due to his Gibson like injuries. I always appreciated how good he played with Baines and that made him watchable but by the stats (i love stats) he just isnt productive.

....I wouldn't particularly compare him to Gibson from an injury perspective. Pienaar is about 10st and playing in the most combative part of the pitch. He has a very light frame and takes a proper hit going past players. All of this must take a toll as he gets older. I'm sure this was a factor for Tim Cahill although he was clearly more of a competitor than Pienaar.

When you still hear even this season Gary Neville referring to the Baines/piennar understanding it just goes to show what a top intelligent player he was. Let's hope Baines isn't going to join him as often on the treatment table.
