I believe we already had money for this signing and this signing alone. If we were to sell Yobo, that fee combined with Cahill money, would be enough to sign Moyes next target which is Landon Donovan. If that happens then great, but I think signing Naismith + re-signing Pienaar is a great summer for us so far, even though I'm disappointed to see Cahill go, I believe all things gone well, he will be back on loan in January where he will be fresh and able to make a positive impact for a couple of months. If we sell the likes of Heitinga or Anichebe, that will give us the kind of money to make a play for Dempsey, whether he'd come here over Liverpool is another thing, but if we have Landon and Tim Howard playing for us, it would not surprise me one bit to see him here, if we have made the sales I mentioned of course. That's the exact situation as I understand it.

Its only an opinion but if we'd had the money for Pienaar the whole time we'd have bought him & I know other genuine ITK posters seem to have said the that sales weren't necessary for Pienaar . However people involved in the Yobo deal were working under the impression the money would be the first payment for Pienaar . As yet we haven't completed Pienaar but it seems a coincidence that the deal seemed done then Yobo collapsed and it went quiet but once we sold Cahill it seemed to raise its head again. Regardless of that Cahill has gone for around a million whilst Yobo will at best be less than £2m (English) would that £3m (maximum) get you Donovan ?

Then theres Dempsey I'm not sure the money from Johnny and Anichebe would give us enough to sign & defensive cover as well not to mention we'd have to do he business before anyone else completed a move for Dempsey.

Strictly Gentlemen sources have confirmed that the South African Steven Pienaar will undergo a medical at Everton today. It was previously believed that the 30 year old would undergo a medical Monday, however Pienaar only returned to England on Monday night after a weekend in Amsterdam.

The transfer is expected to be completed on Wednesday morning with Pienaar signing a 4 year contract.

is right sheeds....more than anything else as you will know very well sheedy, is that our "time to completion" on IN,s and OUT,s is legendary. In fact, there is a mega case study yet still to be written but I would.nt trust the club to get anyone "in" on time before the window shuts... if we had to shift someone out to get someone in...at least not this lot in charge.

My understanding is that the hold up on Pienaar was due to the spread of payment instalments to Spurs and Levy was being ridiculous upon the opening of negots. with regards to that, but we were always confident it would be sorted, we had money for him since January and the prolonged negots. were just to make sure the terms did not waver from where we were at in January when we just ran out of time to conclude a perm. deal, Levy changed terms early this summer but has loosened his stance as it became clear Pienaar only wanted to play for Everton. The banks have also loosened their grip this summer meaning that sales will give us extra money to sign players, Donovan is the next priority, if we can push through the sale of Yobo. Dempsey remains a pipe dream as we would need to sell Heitinga, which Moyes does not want. Both Donovan and Dempsey would be keen on playing for the club more so Donovan, and both are well aware of our interest, I do believe Donovan will sign for us this summer.

Fair enough mate . Like I say i cant say we did need the money but I'm 100% certain that people involved in the Yobo deal were operating under the impression we needed the money for the first Pienaar payment . in fairness to levy he agreed with us paying in installments when he had a cash offer on the table so it's hard to be too tough on him . If we ran out of time in January I'm surprised we didn't just complete when the window opened but I take it that's where you say levy changed his stance ? I just find it a massive coincidence that Pienaar was done with him allegedly travelling up but then Yobo fell through and it went quiet but once Cahill went it was done within days.
