Except in football international football isnt the pinnacle, its Champions League, and if we are playing millions in his wages each year for his form with us to suffer because he's jet-setting here there and everywhere playing in meaningless games against the Caymen Islands, then that isnt on

im sure a lot of players would rather win a world cup than a champions league, they only come around every 4 years. I know aussies aren't realistically guna come close to winning it, but if i was playing for any other team than everton, i'd be taking more pride in representing my country. he wasn't born an evertonian, he was born an aussie, a country more known for it's international pride than others.

Do agree that we shouldn't be paying wages when he's away on international duty though but the way footy is going that would just make more people stay at home and collect their paycheque rather than represent their contry, something not many people would be in favour of

no real point to my comment except for being pedantic, but wasn't he born in Samoa and played for the national Samoa youth team. Correct me if I am wrong....

He was born in Australia and is definitely Australian. He has Samoan ancestry though.

Samoan mother, English father, born in Australia.

Never really got a chance to impress at schoolboy level, a bit to do with his size, and also the early age he moved to the UK to start his career.

Redknapp: "I would think he will want to stay at Everton, he seems to have produced his best form there. He was unlucky at Tottenham"

Key word: Was.
