Pienaar to miss semi

Advantages of giving special dispensation to Pienaar:

1. He's allowed to play in a semi final ergo his Morale is boosted, which can only help both his country and his club.

2. He maintains match fitness.

3. He believe his country cares about his current predicament of trying to prove himself worthy of a permanent deal to everton.

4. His other team mates in SA, know that in similar pivotal career moments they too could recieve dispensation - and that there country wouldn't be shortsighted and petty.

Disadvantages of not giving special dispensation;

1. Permanent and lasting damage between Pienaars club (hopefully everton) and SA.

2. Complete demotivation to be called up to play by SA again.

3. That sinking feeling of what could've been as Pienaar runs round cones on a training ground as his club side fight for a place at Wembley (a fight that he was instrumental in, and can no longer take part in).

4. The possibility that other players seeing this will simply retire as soon as they get a juicy long contract.

There are probs more to add to the list above. Extremely, viciously short sighted.

Personally hope they lose every game and half of SA falls into the sea.

If there was a conflicting international match, then fair enough. We are talking about some insipid training camp. Pienaar has fought all season to play in an everton shirt, to play in a semi final and stake a place in Wembley. They pissed on his dreams so he could join camp on time. Their justification (which only large stupid media scared organisations can come up with) is that if Pienaar want to join late, everyone will want to join late.

Not everyone is in a [Poor language removed] semi final dickheads.

[Poor language removed] em.

If I was Moyes and Pienaar, I'd sign him up for a six year contract in the summer and then, when all the work permit stuff goes through, get him to retire from international football. Would serve them right. And hopefully all SA's best players would do the same.

then maybe SA can look at the [Poor language removed] in charge of their FA.

Not often I agree with you buddy, but cracking post.

Nice one

would have liked him to stand up for benny M C and state that until the problems with the SAFA are fixed and that players are no longer victimised for non footballing reasons then it would be impossible to turn out for such a disorganised and vicious association.

but footballers arent allowed to use strong language, so its a pit pie in the sky.

the probs with making a stance against the SAFA now, is that come signing Pienaar (if that happens), he'll need to have played in 75% (or whatever it is now) of his countries last international games in order to gain a work permit for his new contract.

Otherwise, I'd be made up if he turned round and told the SAFA to go [Poor language removed] themselves.

And here's the reason why (from a crafty DM):

But recent reports in South Africa said the international management were expecting Pienaar to join the squad on Sunday.

And now Moyes is highlighting the 14-day rule to lay claim to the midfielder, who is on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

Fifa regulations say a country can claim their player 14 days before international action.

The African Cup of Nations begins on January 20, but South Africa aren't in action until January 23 - which is 15 days after the game at Stamford Bridge.

PA reports that FIFA says we are wrong:

FIFA insisted today however that the regulations state clubs must release players 14 days before the start of the tournament.

A FIFA spokesman told PA Sport: "It is very clear that the regulations refer to the opening match of the tournament.

"Clubs must release players 14 days before the opening of the competition, not the first match of the team concerned."
