See what I did there?

Sorry, have missed a bit on GOT for a week or so, as I've been struggling with an ear infection lately.

What's so wrong with mentioning Elia though?

Because we've got 0% chance of signing him, mate. It's just another reminder of how much it sucks to be us in the windows.

Maybe, but reading the L.C.A.B/THT transfer window thread, it seems that two faced Johnny is also on his way out, as is James Vaughan (sadly enough). Should give us some cash to play around with. Hamburg already stated they are prepared to let him leave for around 8,5m GBP. Could do a lot worse than him. Honestly think, he'd represent an improvement on Pienaar.

Pienaar has been a great pro, he hasn't left us ala Lescott, played great and give 100% every game. I wish him all the best in the future and for me the door would be open if he ever wanted to come back and play for us.

Just wish our board had the same ambition as he had, if that was the case, Pienaar, im convinced, would still be an Everton player with a brand spanking new contract.

Cheers Bill, Bobby Earl, Phillip Green, Simon Cowell, Arnie, Sly Stallone, the cast of Blood Brothers & Robert Elstone - All great blues!

Mate.

We're seeing a crunch in salaries as of next year. These club's who've increased wages 10% in the last year.

Lets see if that can continue next year. Because very shortly the rise and rise and rise of player wages is going to be curtailed.

Because they're increasing wages quicker than turnover's going up. That by definition's unsustainable.

It'll cause major instability.

It happened at Aston Villa. And it'll happen again all over if it continues.

He's fantastic. But price aside, he'd also not want to come here. He's good enough to play for better teams than us. Teams in Europe.

I think it wont make that big a difference to be fair.

Seriously mate he has shown no ambition other than the ambition of going to the club which will give him the most money. He is not leaving for silverware he is leaving for greed. You have a pop at out board for not giving him what he wants and say we are the ones who are showing no ambition however are you going to say the same to the chealsea board. Are they showing no ambition cause they are not giving him what they want. Not saying he is wrong or that he is a snide but again you blaming the club for something that they have to be realistic about and the demands he wanted were unrealistic even chealsea don't think he is worth what he is asking for. I have no grudge against him he saw out his contract, tried his best always and at the end his contract wants even more money. Not showing ambition he is showing greed

Watch and wait.

I remember this view when I and others were saying this about Aston Villa...

Watch and wait.

But Villa rebuilt their squad and gambled on trying to get into the champions league over the O'Neil years and it didnt pay off. They never had a massive influx of cash to balance the books - but hey, they've just bought a player for £6million. They're not gonna go under either.

Blatter and Uefa or whatever say this and that all the time - you even say they're a set of corrupt bar-stools anyway. So the fact they'll even ban big money clubs into the Champs League is biting the hand that feeds them. Clubs will get around it.

And as for us...we need to get into Europe 1st never mind champs league (which is waaaay out of our reach now).

Its not just UEFA. It's the EU commission who are FORCING them to regulate football finances.

If they don't UEFA will lose it's ability to regulate and they'll impose another agency to regulate it for them.

Bigger fish lad.

It was the spending (loans) they took on... coupled with the massive increase in wages (wage:turnover) that gave them no room to manoeuvre.

Hence O'Neil left.

That £6 million they just spent. That's effectively what they've taken in in player sales - that and any further money will be what they've taken in the rise of TV money this year.

i.e. about another £5million tops.

But still - unless they've suddenly built a 55000 stadium and fill it week in week out - their financial situation's not changed one jot.

If we had offered the same money Atreta was on and he accepted it I'm sure we would all be feeling very happy now.

It is the board who have caused this nonsense.

But obviously we are not in the position where we can offer the same as arteta if indeed thats what he wanted, surely as we all know we are not in the best shape financially so the club must be put before player and if we start giving players what they want next time a players contract is up they will do the same. Does this not say to players we will not let you hold the club the ransom.
