Pienaar nicked for drunk driving

he won't go to jail lid, he'll just get a driving ban, which for someone with his dough won't really affect him, it's not like he can't afford taxi's and the bigger insurance premiums when he gets his license back.
Is that what they do over there, your first offense and you lose your license?

I wish they were that tough over here. They don't seem to get tough until somebody ends up dead.

i'm in no way condoning what pienaar allegedly did, but just so i can have some perspective to weigh the situation, how stringent are drunk driving laws in the uk?

i'm only asking because in virginia, since i am under 21, if i've just had one beer i can be charged with a dui, even if i show no signs of impairment. obviously driving when you're impaired is a terrible thing to do, but maybe he had just had a couple and was only pulled over for something routine. is there a minimum blood alcohol content he had to blow in order to be charged? if not, i really can't judge him too much for this one slipup.

in your case, you don't drink then.

really, anything over a pint and you could test positive, thats the way I look at it, if you've necked a 2nd pint and got straight in the car then it could give you a pos. reading so not worth chancing.

I had to have an INTERNATIONAL driving license to drive legally in Australia, i had to get that here, not take a test over there to get it. In N.Z, as a resident i was able to drive on my U.K. license for 1 year before having to take their test or stop driving, if i was on a tourist visa I would have to have an INTERNATIONAL license to allow me to drive.

You seem to have inside knowledge on a lot of things including what i have done, could you shed some insight into what i did on christmas day 1995 please as it's a little hazy.

The international drivers license was a grey card affair obtainable on production of a valid uk license from the RAC or AA.

THIS LOOKS REMARKABLY LIKE IT...

Correct Reidy and you can only use the international licence for 3 Mths if you have a Resident visa,Then take a test for a your Aussie Licence(y)

wow, they gave me a year in n.z. then i had to do the written test, i questioned why and the lady said that driving was different there, I asked if she had ever heard of Thelwall viaduct, more cars in an hour than the man south island "highway" has in a year.

* highway being just a normal road like we use every single day, except with a lot less traffic, just another way of getting money from immigrants basically.

Had Pienaar phoned up and said I'll give any taxi driver who picks me up £100, there would have been a rank outside his hotel within minutes.
If he's on £50,000 a week, that would have been the equivalent of about 50p for him compared to average wages.
No excuses really.
