With GOT's highest regarded sources saying it looks like Pienaar and Donovan could be heading back to Goodison post-Christmas, I can't help but begin to think that this season could be a lot better than what most of us were thinking throughout the October month of death. Right now the teams confidence is at a low thus, the horrible style that we played against Wolves. However, our current squad can produce much better than that and we're still capable of playing good football. Now, I don't think for one minute that the Wolves victory will unlock all our panache and style all of a sudden, but it will give us belief that we can battle it out and get the three points against the the teams we're expected to. I think the run of fixtures we have up until January could very realistically see us in the top eight and maybe within the 5-8 points from the top seven that remains bridgeable. Imagine being in this position and bringing in Pienaar and Donovan? Our squad knows their games and they know ours, they will get the best out of what we've got and obviously bring their own talents to our squad. Then you will see a squad capable of producing the 09/10 mid-winter football which had us as the form team in the premier league, with the addition of Drenthe who may also have his game helped by having pressure taken off him in a creative sense. Saha also misses Pienaar's play which his game linked well with and his game also suited Donovan's in his last spell with us. There are still many variables that could go right or wrong in the meanwhile but the grim feeling surrounding our squad may begin to abate come mid January.Obviously, fresh investment is vital if we are to move forward as a club but, in the the meantime, our current squad could bring back some excitement for our supporters. I know Landon will probably only be short-term, but who knows what kind of confidence and improvement that could give to the likes of Coleman and Drenthe in the long-term?

I'm optimistic for the five or six games post January - however, I think by then our season will be dead in the water, and we'll finish around 10th. We have an easy run of games before the turn of the new year but we're not showing the quality or form to take advantage of the amount we should.

True, but I still think we'll have more points by boxing day compared to the four or five teams in front of us, who I still feel are not as good as us in terms of quality.

no chance peanuts will be coming back up here. spurs wont let him go

Agreed. The only sources touting this were far than credible. Now if only LCAB was to state so then I would warm up to it fast. Redknapp knew what he was doing taking our player of the year away to ascend the table and he got the job done.

I would do somersault's of joy all down our road if that was the case , there is no way this will happen , there's more chance of Moyes'y starting Barkley in the hole at Bolton Saturday , Donovan maybe - Pienarr no chance - signing both players together not even worth mentioning

I'd be happy with this.

I'm still not sure on my feelings towards Pienaar...he was a bit sh*t to us not signing what I assume was a decent contract offer. However, no doubting he's a decent player.

I'd be so happy if Landon came back. So happy.

I just don't want us to be crap anymore.

Good.

Pienaar = Everton player of the year, f*cks us over a new contract and lies to the fans.

Goes to bigger club, plays one match in the Champions League but ultimately gets shown up for being quite average.

Comes back to lesser club with open arms because we're on the skids.

I'd rather him rot in their reserves, there's still such a thing as pride...something that drink driving tit isn't aware of.

If any are doubting whether Spurs would allow Pienaar to go, then look back on LCABs website were he said there was a deal in place to bring him back on deadline day that just ran out of time to be completed. Despite the fact that Pienaar was wrong in getting off like he did, i'd still love him back as there's no doubting he's a quality footballer who fit into our team very well.

id love him back here mate, without a doubt. quality player who always gave his all. I just cant see spurs letting him go- ok granted he isnt in the starting 11 but its a long season aint it, and its not a bad replacement sitting on the bench to come on. I thought when he went there, bale might be dropped back to left back, with peanuts infront. baines and peanuts worked so well together cuz baines cud give him the ball and bomb on, knowing peanuts wouldnt lose the ball. TBH- could see Ary doing that in the future...

I'd be surprised if we got Pienaar back, (a) because Spurs will take us for every penny, and (b) what about his wages? Can we afford him now? Also I'm not sure about getting Donovan. I liked him last time but how many games can he actually play for us given the limited time he can stay with us. Loans are always useful, but I do worry that we aren't actually signing (or looking likely to) players .
