Phil Coutinho - Barcelona player

Barcelona have been mugged with that fee. Haven't seen much of him this season but doesn't he have a reputation for being good one game and rubbish the next?
First couple of seasons he was a talented but inconsistant player. However, over the last year or so he's been adding an incredible level of consistancy to his game imo.

I love the fact that he's done a little fly on the wall documentary whilst still a Liverpool player, all about the excitement and build up to his move.

I mean leaving your club is one thing, but charting every single aspect of what you're doing in the days before that and letting a newspaper film you, that's tremendous stuff. Imagine if the move had fallen through and that then got released, that would have been all my Christmases come at once right there. They're as much a stepping stone club as we are, at least we're able to admit it, it's eating some of them alive at the thought that exactly the same will happen with Mane, Firmino and Salah in the next couple of seasons.

To be continued.....

Don't get me wrong, he is a brilliant player and scores some absolutely outrageous goals but I think he is a little over-hyped, very over-hyped if you judge him on that fee. £145m is a brilliant deal for them, I personally prefer Christian Eriksson at Spurs, I think technically he's the superior player and nobody is talking about buying him for that kind of money. Coutinho tends to go through several inconsistent patches through a season, probably why Liverpool are happy to let him go now. I have a feeling that his fee is pretty much spent already on Van Dijk and Keita so I'm not too worried about them making any purchases this January.

Coutinho was the man who made them tick.

He would drag players out of position with his movement creating space for the others, could pick the ball up in any space, could spot and execute all sorts of passes, could rescue a poor pass with his touch and skill and had found his scoring touch.

The FAB4 were really the FAB 1 with three players made to look better than they are.

Difficult to say he's underrated after that fee tbh but do think some people don't realise how good he was for them. I'd be flabbergasted if they stay in the top 4 now.

They've lost a very good player, but if they manage to bring Lemar in with Keita waiting in the wings they may end up better off.
