Imagine we could nab Kagawa, would be in squad heaven then. That said he does play the same position as Barkley so could be difficult to keep both happy.

some lad having a go on twitter this morning at me re the quality of Robles, Alcaraz and Hibbert asking am I happy?
Simple answer is no.
Youd be mad to be happy with hibbert playing a major role this season. But we are were we are. He cannot spend £70/80M and address the whole squad in 2/3 transfer windows. He has to do it slowly and build. Its frustrating but it takes time.
It also takes understanding from fans who need to accept that until were offering CL football every season and 100k a week...then a top class 2nd 11 simply isnt possible.
Someone of Colemans quality lets say, isnt going to sit on our bench on 40k a week waiting for his opportunity in the EL away at Thor or a 2nd round COC tie away at MK dons.
People need to see the bigger picture, what the manager is attempting to do and believe in it.

In terms of what Moyes wanted to do Hibbert was a great addition. However, under Martinez and his more modern tactics Hibbert is useless.
Only Everton will know why he got a new contract at the age of 33. Perhaps it was a case of "if Coleman, Stones, Jags, Distin, Oviedo, Baines, Duffy, or Garbutt gets injured, we have Hibbert who'll play RB".
The only reason Hibbert has been playing pre-season is a combination of Coleman getting injured and Hibbert not getting any game time last season.

Can anyone clarify for me about our squad size/limit? Leaving aside the "home grown" rules etc, my understanding is that the max size is 25 but this excludes U21s. By my reckoning we have 23 senior players when you remove players on loan and U21s. I am including Duffy (22), McAleny (22), Lukaku & Garbutt (both just turned 21) but excuding Stones, Barkley (turns 21 this yr). I have also excluded Browning, Hope, Pennington, Grant, Long & Ledson as U21.
So that would leave 2 spots available with 1 for ATSU and just one other free (to fill)?

Barkley won't qualify, he will be 21 before the end December cut off I believe.
