Penalties.

You would think we'd have gotten at least one of those dodgy sort of hand ball calls you see in the box now and then...If nothing else I can recall 4 or 5 of those at least where the ref waived play on.

The most blatant was Seamus being knocked to the ground inside tha Leicester penalty box in December.

Pretty strong appeal turned down on Sunday when the defender handled the same player's cross as well.

No conspiracy theory, would just be nice to see some of the soft decisions go our way. Handballs are the main one in this league, for every team. No consistency from any of the refs. We should definitely have had one vs Swansea, for example. But it's not the penalty decisions that annoy me as much as the ones that are clear cut (like Chelsea and City).

Penalty calls are subjective and really a matter of opinion - you win some (City away in the league) and lose some (Stoke at home). The obvious decisions like clear offsides, in-consistent time-keeping and the ball clearly been out of play are the main ones.

I don't buy into this thinking some seem to have, that there is a reason we don't get pens. OK we don't but i think that is more to do with the way we play honestly then anything else, Lukaku isn't the type to flop over every five minutes, same with Barkley who would rather score a honest goal then cheat like a kopite.

I wouldnt really describe the likes of Kane, Alli, Erikson, Dembele etc divers either.

Leicester have had something like 7/8 penaltys this season. Think it has more to do with there explosive nature in and around the box

Liverpool on the other hand...........

In season 1971-2 Francis Lee scored 15 penalties for Manchester City.

...the Pool must have got a few during the 'Suarez season'. I read SAFs book a while ago and I think he said Ryan Giggs only won 5 penalties during his playing days because he rarely went to ground when tackled.

the thing is, we're close to the top of the league in goals from open play. Meaning we are in/around the box pretty significantly before the team scores. You'd THINK that there would be SOME sort of foul in the box allowing us to get a penalty with the amount of time spent in there.

Balatant one against Leicester at 1-1

Our players don't appeal enough or get in the officials faces enough so they don't care

Were gentlemen
Total agree. After the City game, players and manager shrugged off the pitch the epitome of a hard luck story when all i wanted to see was Martinez and Jags laying into the ref and letting him know our displeasure. I know it doesn't alter the result but we come out week after week saying something like "it's tough to take, you'd hope (insert official of choice) would spot that but they didn't so"!
I like that we're a pretty honest team but i want to see a bit of snide now and then
