Moyes was asked at his pre-match press conference whether he was confident a new contract deal for Pienaar would be agreed before the World Cup. "Yes," he replied. "The talks have been on going for some time. I hope we will and I am sure we will.

Woop woop!

No chance

question is, are we going to buy players that take us to the next level?

I'd venture to say that Moyes already has purchased players that have taken us to the next level. It's a matter of staying healthy and everything firing on all cylinders.

Finally, a man of intellect and reason. Cut the nasty injuries out and Moyes has built a very solid side - good central defending, a great DM in Fellaini and a very clever MF with Arteta, Pienaar, Cahill and Bilyatedinov. Not to say a tweak here or there isn't needed but on the whole, Moyes has built a CL side. It just can't stay healthy.

Totally agree with everything here Chicago. No chance Pienaar will go the the [Poor language removed] but need to sort contract out ASAP.

No injuries and perhaps the addition of, ummm, I don't know, Landon Donovan will make the difference next season. I sure hope so cause I can't wait to see it unfold in person next year at Goodison. I was looking at season tickets for next season, but the family enclosure was sold out and I won't get to Germany until the middle of September. Btw, how easy is it to sell season tickets for games you can't make it to? We have stubhub here in the states. Any info?

Agreed mate altothough i didnt like the sound of this from inside the dressing room from Super Tim Cahill:

"The big thing for us is holding on to the players and adding some quality,"

"It's going to be difficult because some of the lads (contracts) are up, and there are other circumstances with a few of the lads. If we can do that it will be a massive season for us."

"I think we have to step it up next season," added Cahill. "Players are getting older, time is moving on, and there is only so much time you can keep saying 'if only'.

"For me it's been fantastic going to Wembley twice but we need to kick on a bit and move to another level.

"If we can't do it, other players are going to look to go elsewhere and look for Champions League football and at this stage in my career it's something I want to do."

Moyesy is more or less telling us us hes staying isnt he:

Moyes is relaxed about the ongoing talks between Pienaar’s agent and the club, and is quietly optimistic that the South African will help the Blues break into the top four next season.

He said: “I feel quite comfortable with the situation, and that it’s moving along in the right direction. There has been quite a bit of dialogue.

“It doesn’t make any difference if he hasn’t signed before the World Cup. He’s our player for next year so if it doesn’t then so be it.

“But I don’t think it will go that far. I think it will be sorted out before then.”
