The Battle for Denmark Strait and the race to sink the Bismarck are incredibly interesting. Back then there was a large element of chance involved that has been completely removed by modern day technology.

Race to sink the Scharnhorst too.

Older less modern British v German newer pocket battle ships.

Royal Navy has over 300 years of history.

Within 20 years of ww2 the royal navy was a fraction of its previous size

RIP to the men still resting inside the hull of USS Arizona and USS Utah

I come from a naval family.

You say they're still there?

My great uncle was involved with that race to sink the Biamark, I've a photo I'll dig out of him on his ship.

In WW1, my great grandad (the dad of the above) was in the Battle of Jutland on HMS Conqueror.

Yes Groucho....USS Arizona and Utah are considered war graves and the bodies have never been recovered from inside the hulls.

Amen to all who lost their lives in that conflict from both sides.

A little story, my Wife and I have friends in Nurnberg right near the Volspark. We were walking there and came across the German memprial for those lost in both wars. It was in a disgusting state. Our friend had been an MP in the Bavarian State parliamen and we made it clear that the state of the memorial was intolerable that they should more respect for the fallen.

A couple of years later we revisied the park and behold the memorial was now in excellent condition just as our own our.
