[Sharpys top lip]

The missus spilt WKD over my new laptop...... AAARRRHHHH... death to her like.

Iv taken most of the keys off and wiped properly and everything is fine. thing is the backspace (delete) button wont work at all. Any idea why? anything i can do to fix it?

Yes, don't switch it on - or even attempt to.

If you can, put it in a pillow case, and fill it to the top with some rice ( no joke ) it should absorb any moisture left in it.

should set you back about £6 for a few bags of rice, for a potentially saved laptop.

You can also - 'remap' the delete button to something you don't use very often ?

Still damp inside the key cavity.

Leave it to dry out. Key should work when the damp is gone.


At a push if all fails. Get checking your home insurance you might be able to claim on that if needed to get it replaced.

Why the fukk would i want a new keyboard. Defeats the object of a laptop really. plus its only one button. surly i can get it fixed?

you can get a new keyboard insert for the laptop.

Yes ate, but even would'nt work when i pressed the stalk the key sits on.

Damn...that means the problem is more than likely under the top plate there, where the stalk you're talking about actually makes contact with the PCB when you press it. This is why I avoid laptops like the plague, you have to treat them with kid gloves.

You're gonna' have to be able to get under the top plate Sharps and I wouldn't know how you'd go about that with yours...it doesn't help that they don't really design them to be user serviceable.

IF I knew , I'd tell you , lid .

Alas , I don't . Mind you , I took mine in the bathroom while I showered an' it got all condensationed-up .

It was laffin' after a couple of hours .

P.S. What flavour WKD ??? ( Used to like a little WKD , once upon a time ,..)
