Do I stand alone in preferring pies?

Classic GOT. One post in and there's a schism into two parties.

Pasties are better than pies. Both are fantastic but pasties win on marginally providing less pastry and being easier to consume because of shape generally.

Pasties are symptomatic with everything that is wrong with modern England, which has always previously been a pie loving country - cornwall excluded, which non coincidentally is where pasties come from.

Since then, much like red squirrels being over run by their less cute grey rivals, pasties have spread like a cancer throughout the land. Where a man would sit and contemplate gods majesty on a park bench partaking of a pie and peas for luncheon without as much as a by your leave, now its de rigeur for said man to galumph along gormlessly masticating a pasty on the hoof; as if the nazi's had won the war or something.

this must stop. Pasties are inferior, made of shoddy pastries and fillings and represent a capitalist cornish conspiracy to overthrow the soverign realm and the british empire from within.

I do like a good pie.

But too often upon purchase I have been presented with a pie where the texture of the crust resembles something along the lines of cardboard, ruining the whole experience in the process.

I struggle to find a decent pie nowadays, Hollands meat and potato used to be nice until they got took over and started putting half as much filling in them. There's always a Greggs nearby and you can't go wrong with their pasties. Cheese and ham, traditional, peppered steak, sausage and bean. Mmm
