I want a new tv soon, What's the best, I sit about 8ft from my current 720p LCD 42"

re: plasma v led v LCD. ?

What gives me the best picture for films, not interested in anything else - quality only, budget is about £1k preferably inc a Blu ray w/ surround sound kit

3D stuff is ****, i hate that innovation. it adds nothing to the movie.

some like it though and thats cool. im just old fashioned wagon

Tbh not sure of the difference. My cousins husband has had 3D since it came out and loves it. Not so keen myself - I already have to wear one pair of glasses, don't really need a second just to watch telly.

I have both! Active on my Panasonic 50" in the lounge and passive on my 55" LED LG in the Game Room...

Got to say I was thinking the active would be better, but they're both much of a muchness for me.

And to top the lot, I probably watch one movie a month (at the most) in 3D.

Passive is better. Active is only useful if you plug your wii into it on a regular basis. Watching yourself in 3D doing an interActive workout is truly boss.

None. 3D tv is a gimmick.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Save your money.

I have one already - just planning an upgrade....

I'm old fashioned too, but I'm cool as well.. :)

I wear specs - it's more annoying when you do, but I soon got used to the 3D ones too...

This all day long, save your money mate.

Spent once, will spend again, just need ideas on which way to go...
