Afternoon mate.

I just said in another thread if we want to bring in some quality exciting capable players, then a manager with some clout and reputation who has won domestic and European trophies as both a player and a manager is what we need.

If the financial backing is there, then players will look at the manager they potentially will be playing for and the other players in the team.

A good manager will do his best to keep our best players, strengthen the team, get rid of any players who need to move on, and start a new generation of Everton FC. One without Robert Earl, Kenwright, Moyes and Martinez.

I'm really excited about the future Jdawg, only Everton can cock that up...!!

Oh I hear you. That's actually my opinion too. But as said part of me is a bit of romantic, and fears for the future of the academy lads at Everton. I'd rather win trophies mind, but there's something to be said for having Everton men in charge of Everton Football Club.

We never know, the right experienced manager may make it a priority to bring through academy players. It could work out great.

The players have to be good enough though. They need to be leaders of the premier league academies in order to break through into the first team. If our academy is no better than say Peterborough's academy, then it will simply never work regardless of who the manager is.
 
It ALL must work. That's what ambition is about. The academies, the recruiting, the marketing, the tactics, the players, the management, all of it. We're supposed to have the money, now. What is done with it? The money doesn't exist for Everton Football Club until we see it on matchday.

That's what ambition is all about. If you're going to embrace ambition, then embrace being the target. We're too well liked by everybody else, if you ask me. Shake 'em up, create a little envy, go out and put a squad together and get somebody they'll come here to play for. Isn't that what we're looking for? (@johnnydawg68 - I'm ready to see if Zobrist can play some central defender, but only after October)

Everton will be Everton.
 
Dunc is the romantic choice but he's not ready. Unsworth needs to go ply his trade at a Championship side or maybe Scotland.

Everton have the resources and opportunity to make a splash and I hope they do. Splash as in Louganis style, not Belly Flop Bill style.
