Paris Terrorist Attack

Jeez. That's terrible. I saw the magazine cover of their Christmas edition when I was over in France last week, was quite surprised at how explicit the image was, they have looser publishing standards over in France I guess.

Absolutely disgraceful, feel sorry for the innocent muslims who will end up facing the backlash but an uprising is imminent, if the German anti islam demonstrations reached record numbers last week just watch them soar at the next demonstation.

French PM just said upto 40 saved, so that's 50+ victims, and some of the injured are critical.

Mumbai type attack this, the terroists are still at large in Paris, if they find them, no way they go quietly.

Two paragraphs taken from the Independent article on the event. The first in bold sounds like something what would happen in this country, after experiencing the French police brutality in Lille I thought they would turn up fully armed, not send 2 unarmed officers on pedal cycles. As the second paragraph states about the culprits getting away, that is very dangerous and while they are on the loose I would not be surprised if they sprung another attack.

Benoit Bringer, a journalist with Agence Premiere Ligne who saw the attack, told the iTele network he saw several masked men armed with AK47s. He said two apparently unarmed officers arrived on bicycles, then left a short while later.

Luc Poignard, an official with the French police union official, said three police officers had been injured and that the attackers had escaped in two vehicles.

The gunmen were still reported to be on the run.

...I suppose it's difficult to guard against something like this, they are reporting it was expert gunmen so I suppose they had no specific intelligence that it was about to happen.

Gunmen still at large.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were sat cowering in a corner somewhere dressed as women.

It's a wonder we haven't had another orchestrated attack since the tube bombings in truth.
Perhaps our security sources are not as bad as they are made out :) Anyway, GCHQ can hack away at my stuff if they want.

whichever way we are 'dealing' with these situations doesn't see to be working, right across Europe

Events like this will further fuel a rise in anti Islamic sentiments and empower far right groups, as it is, Europe is fast becoming a tinderbox and a fundamentalist war could easily escalate within countries.

When there is a perceived 'enemy' portrayed such as Islam is in the media, and the jihadist mentality added to it, the justification for these sick acts sits easy in the minds of those who carry them out, they are prepared to die for their 'cause' and have no thought whatsoever for the consequences.

We need to find a better way of dealing with this without inflaming emotions, difficult in the aftermath, but it's between acts of terrorism that work needs to be done, not just political point scoring and finger pointing

They can take a number like everyone else.
