Love Pacman, but he'd lose to Floyd.
That's what I think too.
Love Pacman, but he'd lose to Floyd.
He is at the top of his game , I grant you , but he has been beaten before . 3 times . Moreover , he's running for office in the Phillipines and this time - he ran before and came second - he'll get in .
Plus , Floyd will have been looking at this fight from when Pacquiao signed the contract with Cotto . He won't be unprepared .
I don't doubt his staying power . Nor his chin , but Mayweather is the Guv'nor . especially defensively . I just see him staying out of trouble , and as with De La Hoya , win a fight that he throws nearly a half as less blows . He's got a dig , and a chin on him , too .
Just my opinion , of course .
Can't wait though .
This is Hagler-Hearns - Leonard-Duran , ( round robin championships ) of the 2000's era .
I've seen all his fights since the one fight before Barerra about 5 years ago. Don't put stock into the 3 losses. Two were in the Phillipeens (Bert Sugar in one of those fights he was hit in the balls at least 25 times, they fight a bit differently on the islands I guess). Also don't put stock into the Marquez fights. All Manny had was a left hand then and if you stop that, you stop Manny (the Manny of today would knock out the Manny of 4 years ago in 3 rounds - - Hatton might have had a slight chance against that Manny).
He can now throw all punches with both hands at all angles and here's what's scary, he's still getting better. He can take a punch, his stamina is off the charts (and he didn't train much for this fight) Mayweather had been put to the canvas by such heavy hitters as Zab Judah. It won't be close.
Mayweather should have fought him when he had the chance a few years ago because at one time he was clearly better than Manny. Not anymore.
Manny reminds me of is Nigel Benn (My 2nd all time favorite fighter. Nigel would have ripped apart Mayweather) only better. Benn fights used to be on network TV in the states and everytime I saw a Benn fight I always said to myself, my god someone is getting killed (which unfortunately happened). Benn didn't knock you out quickly like say a young Tyson, he just beat the living hell out of you for round after round. I think in one of those fights he knocked someone clear outside the ring. Unfortunately I feel the same with Manny now. I was watching the fight with a bunch of Phillipinos and we were all cheering up to about the 7th round and then we all went silent. It was like please end this, I did think I was watching a funeral. Hatton added a few years on his life when he went down in the 2nd.
Mate , respect . You obviously know your Boxing . However , while I concur with most of your points , esp' the validity of the defeats , ; still , Mayweather is the Geezer , on the back foot . No doubt Pacquiao will come looking for him , but so has everyone else . He's just as fast , just as tough , in a different league defensively , and I honestly feel that the Political aspect will be a factor by then .
Manny is a PHENOM' - as the Yanks , say - over there .
Ony Floyd loves Floyd in America . Oh , and Floyd's Bank Manager .
As I said originally ; Mayweather on points . With Manny being a people's champ' thing , a la Hatton , afterwards .
Did you see him talking on SSN earlier, he was trying to talk the talk but I felt he was less asured than normal. The Pacman has the fist speed to hit him, I believe FM believes that as well.............will he actually be prepared to risk his unbeaten record.........I have a sneaky feeling he might not
He will . He's already starting the hype .
It will be a cracker , but , for me , Mayweather . Just .
Talking of Hatton . By the time he fought Manny , he was well past it . He knew it , too . It was Floyd who pulled his pants down- figuratively speaking - . Manny just got him as a beaten ex-champ .
Sorry to say that once his unbeaten tag went Hatton was through........his heart went down, he blamed his old trainer and anything else in order to maintain his reputation as like so many before him he forgot to blame himself
Granted , Mont' . Also , he forgot that 3 stone excess is much harder to lose at 31 , than it is at 21 .
Top lad , mind you , but not in the class of these two . Even in his Kostya Tzsu , days .
