Poor lad pulled up after just 5 minutes of his comeback game today with another injury. He looked the bees knees at the 2006 World Cup and the England team would be much better with him anchoring it rather than the donkey that is Gareth Barry.

Doesn't look like he'll ever make it back to his best. Shame for the lad.

I agree mate. Thing is with Gareth Barry, he was ace when he was at Villa, turned into a right pleb since he signed for City. Anybody else know of anyone else who went [Poor language removed] once in a City shirt.

Yes and no. Barry when he first came onto the stage with prominence for England was pretty good. Hargreaves took a while to get into his stride. He was booed and criticised quite often in his early games, but yeah 2006 he was superb.
 

Think that was more a case of some England fans being tits. I mean some England fans boo Frank Lampard, yet if you look at his Chelsea record it's incredible. Ditto Ashley Cole. He might be a bit of a berk but he's a bloody good player.

Ok, well I thought Hargreaves had a slow start to his England career, but then he became a rock. Badly missed.

That is true. But I think Rooney could have handled the situation a little better.

I mean he's the one who has 200k a week in his sky rocket.
 
I think it was down to the media more than anything, the usual pundits (Hansen, Shearer, Lineker, even Wright) didn't know anything about him and Sven was using him in a very limited role, filling in for others. He'd never really had that chance to impress.
