Yes, every club in theory could face the same scenario, but in reality, they're not going to, are they? Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, they know how to keep their ship in order to avoid anything like this happening.
True, but i have seen all of them (except the arse) in the second division, so anything is possible!

Yes, I don't get all the hatred shown toward Villa by quite a few on here.

We have never had any issues with them as a club or as fans from what I recall.

Always a safe enough away trip.

And the Villa trilogy was one of the most enjoyable periods in my Everton supporting career.

(Brian Little notwithstanding )
Hatred no way just fun .hatred is reserved for one club only!

I would suggest we know how to avoid relegation happening better than either United or Spurs do.

Precedent certainly confirms that fact.

And remember this, it is not so very long ago Spurs sat rock bottom of the league in November.

And turned to Sir Arry of Redknapp to rescue them :pint2:

For the most part I've always quite liked Villa, apart from that absolutely crap "Kumbaya" song they do.

They are about the most similar-sized club to us in England I would say

Had a period under O'Neill when we were battling them for the "best of the rest" tag and the rivalry got a little bit spicier

This Villa side is one of the worst Premier League sides we've ever had come to Goodison and they fully deserve to go down. If I were a Villa fan, I would be incandescent with rage at the moment. It almost feels like they've been through a period of managed decline a la Thatcher and this season has been coming for a while. Narrow misses in the last couple of seasons but the writing was on the wall when they sold Delph and Benteke in the summer.

It's a kick in the balls to be relegated, especially for a club of the stature of Villa. If this happened to us I'd be embarrassed and angry at the stain on our history.

More worrying for me would be next season. Are Villa good enough to come back up? I would have grave reservations about that at the moment.

They're going down and there's nothing unlucky about that, but I hope they come back up. I wouldn't like to see them become a Leeds or Forest - a big club who go down and people gradually forget they were ever a big club in the first place.

All rivalries aside we should beware of hubris here! Every single club is only a few bad seasons away from being a Leeds, a Notts Forest or a Sheffield Wednesday, all big clubs in years gone by and all brought down by poor management and poor chairmen! I think there are times when we need to be less partisan and show some solidarity with people who have one very important thing in common with us, they love their club!

For all the verbal on here, (which is fun, and what these forums are for) I sincerely hope we do show some solidarity for a big, traditional club who are being driven into a ditch by incompetent stewardship!

Yep very true, in fact wasn't it Villa fans who mocked the Geordies when they were relegated a few years back? Karma and all that. I don't like Villa but relegation is horrible, maybe it makes it easier knowing the inevitable rather than a last day relegation though.

Lads, Sorry meant to come back sooner and thank the Everton supporters at Villa on Tuesday night for their support and applauding when us we walked out on the 74th. Proper supporters and Proper club. I hope your new rich benefactor/joint owner enables you to progress. It's about time a proper club like Everton broke through. Unfortunately we won't be playing you for some years the way AVFC is going. Have a good season next year. See you all whenever "You are rich!"
