Our next striker

Fat Fredo Morales is available for £5M, so I fully expect us to put a £30M bid in any day now.

Horrible player, utterly useless, but our Scouting team love him, and is exactly the sort of awkward psychotic lump Davey loves.

The chances we find any decent striker in January are slim. Richy will be well down the pecking order once Solanke returns from injury. So we need to try and get him back

He was poor yesterday playing as a 9....hold up play was very sloppy at times...and should have been smart enough to stay onside for his 2nd offside goal....was probably offside for his first one too....had a habit of that with us too when we played him up front

It seems so hard to pick a striker up, we have picked the profiles we all wanted....none of us seemed too unhappy with the choices, and they didn't really cost too much in prem finance reality.

So I have no idea what we do next :

Pay high wages for an older player who has some kind of record not getting game time, or out of contract soon
Go again with a cheaper "prospect" or "project"
Spend massive on a player with some kind of record....not too young or not too old...

None of these will guarantee the player we want, so god knows.

I feel this is a discussion that we need to have being that we are coming to November with 1 singular league goal from our strikers. This is separate to the transfer window threads as I don't expect us to resolve this issue in January.

Beto and Barry do not appear to be going to score any goals any time soon and once again it looks like we are going to be having to enter the market for a striker.

Does anyone have any names to throw around?

I'd imagine we have a couple of criteria:

  1. They've already scored some goals in a decent league.
  2. They're hopefully younger 20-24 and signing a five year contract.
  3. They're probably going to have to have some physicality and be able to challenge in the air as a lot of what we create is from crosses.
  4. They'll need good hold up play and to be able to play up top alone.

On paper you can see why the scouts identified Barry as he checks all of these boxes but it does not seem to be working out so far early into his Everton career.

If we are able to cut our losses on either Barry or Beto, who is there around the world that we could bring in to score goals for Everton?

Perhaps we can use this thread to keep tabs on potential suggestions over the season.

Barry does not check all of those boxes. Apart from 10 or 12 for Villareal off his shin he had a season in a pub league then before that a couple of seasons in a kids pub league. And he definitely doesn't have any "physicality" about him

What physicality does Barry have?

He’s tall but built like a toothpick with absolutely no power or strength behind him.

Not once has he ever given a defender a rough time. He’s an absolute dream to mark for any centre half worth their salt.

How do you know who our scouting team “love”?
We were heavily linked with him a few windows back, as or scouts had watched him playing for Rangers a number of times.
I think there was an injury that meant he wouldn’t recover in time to pass a physical, so we went with another, equally dreadful option (Maupay perhaps?)
