You're probably right but what's your point?

No, I am definitely right.

The Romans, for example, took Saxon and Celtic captives from Britain and Frankish and Germanic people from Gaul back to Rome as slaves.

The Vikings enslaved many Anglo-Saxons.

People were commodities......they were regarded as pruck by conquering armies and their generals used them as a means of paying their men.

Slavery in itself was more to do with economics than racism.

If you were in a village which fell foul to Classical era, Dark Age or Medieval besiegers you were either slaughtered or enslaved.....no matter what colour your skin was :)

Their recent form looks a bit more encouraging than the others down there. The new manager looks like he has them up for it at least.

That said, I do think the bottom four now of S'land, Hull, Palace and Swansea will provide the three to go down...unless Boro implode.
I just think Hull seem to be selling their best players and now their main striker wants out too.

Middlesbrough a good shout though. Don't score enough goals.

All very interesting, and I know the thread has meandered in this direction, but enough is enough.

Our Hull bound Prince only please. Ta.

look I know this is the Niasse thread but that post about slavery in Ancient Rome is completely ridiculous when it is slavery in the new world, based entirely and purposefully on race, along with the ugly history of 18th-20th century imperialism that shapes racism today and in fact invented it

as a historian I just can let that insane post go. happy niasse got a goal
