Other Clubs You Respect?

1- Southampton, they just seem to do things the right way. Buy low, sell high and usually pick the right manager

2-Everton, a lot of quality players but don't splash the cash willy nilly. Also you have to put up with delusional neighbours. You are underachieving quite a bit but the future looks bright

3- Arsenal (before Wenger lost it) Play some truely wonderful football and are the best on their day to watch. Now they're just bottlers

4- Swansea, Ok they aren't doing so well this season but they have had a meteoric rise over the last 10 years and play nice football at times

5- Leicester lol

Athletic Bilbao. They only have Basque players and they're highly competitive in the Spanish top division. Very admirable from my point of view.

Thought they relaxed that? Or was it Santander? One basque club did, I'm sure.

Dunno whether I admire it, or find it a bit Geoffrey Boycott tbh.

I suppose I admire it in the same way I think Celtic's EC win was a great achievement (All their players came from within 30 mile of Parkhead IIRC)

Tottenham, really just for Daniel Levy, I think he is superb at ripping off clubs for their crap players.
Arsenal, went through some tough years selling their best players still managed to get into Champions League each year.
Southampton, la masia got nothing on this lot's academy.
.....Begrudgingly, United. They saw the opportunity to grow rapidly and took it with both hands in the early 90s.

Bournemouth, their promotion ascent has been rapid.

- Basically the entire Bundesliga, even Bayern. Who in England would be willing to loan their fiercest rival money when they were hurting? Such hair-on-fire football in that league, thrilling to watch.

- Tottenham. The only other PL team I have time for. Lots of similarities between us and them (including financial now). The American Spurs fans I know are all hilarious.

- Portland Timbers. Closest thing MLS has to a European-style relationship between club and fans and their home games are an experience. Also an aspirational/political thing for me, like how people love St. Pauli.

- Tampa Bay Rowdies. My hometown club. Do one Orlando City. The Mutiny had to die for you to live.

Why do they play in the Spanish league at all then?
Still a Spanish club I guess, just pick their players from a certain area of Spain/France

Thought they relaxed that? Or was it Santander? One basque club did, I'm sure.
As far as I can see, it wasnt Bilbao.

Just the fact that they can compete with the big clubs in Spain while recruiting from one area of the country is insane.
Teams who recruit from basically the whole world can't maintain the level that they have.

Marine FC. Great local non league club. They give discount if you are an Everton season ticket holder. Good alternative when Everton are not playing.
