Xhaka is the type of player who would lose you a cup final by getting sent off for punching someone right in front of the ref after 3 minutes of play.

A decent left foot attached to a player who obviously doesn’t try in every game, never seems 100% fit and will put the entire team in jeopardy by doing something stupid

He has 34 decent games and 4 complete disasters. You've got the right to say that's too many but I've always thought Arsenal were a steadier team with him in the middle.

Donnarumma to PSG looks a great bit of business for them. To have a keeper you know you will be able to rely on for 10 years is invaluable imo!

If you're playing with a RWB type player Hakimi is basically the best possible option so I guess that's why.

I think he's an upgrade and when you're one of the better squads in the world sometimes finding upgrades can be hard so I guess you take what you can get. Short of signing Haaland or something there isn't a lot for them to do.

You don't look at Chelsea's starting XI and think "hmm let's upgrade with £80m on a RWB".

Again, unless it's you.

Another thing to consider is James was already being used at RCB and Azpilicueta was playing RWB in some games.

I mean how would you spend the money?

He played RCB three times, he can do, but I don't think he'd want to.

Looking at their best XI they should spend every single penny they have on a striker followed by a CB or two.

I don't think he wants to either but my guess is he's about to not have a choice.

Striker sure, but I can understand not wanting to buy someone for big money just to do it, so if they can't get Rom or Haaland this summer they might just hope Werner remembers how to shoot and I think that's probably fine.

There are lots of strikers you could buy for £80m.

There aren't a lot of strikers that Chelsea should buy though. Taking price out of it Hakimi is at Chelsea's desired level. The number of strikers possibly available who are isn't a big list. They could sign DCL for example but I'm not sure he's actually all the way to that level.
